I love the way Hip Hop introduces you to great music and motivates you to get digging in those crates... not just for samples, but for interesting music. I love the blend of folk and rock in this. Took me straight back to seeing pictures of the older generation as hippies. We laughed at them as kids. As adults, we wish we could have been there.... Frankly I wish I had a joint on the go before I put this on. Sadly, I'm in Accident & Emergency and I'm not sure the hospital would appreciate someone smoking a spliff in the waiting room.

I can't get enough of these Giant clips. I want to turn the world on to this music as an example of what rock music can be but wonder if the unexperienced ear of todays music audience can truly appreciate the depths of such an amazing group and what they meant to theri fans.

I love Gentle Giant and always have. It was such an unusual and eclectic group...Never well known and only appreciated by well developed ears and good taste musicians. Non commercial music, real, creative, expansive and boundless. Thanks for your video gift. I surely appreciate it.

Sometime during the early 80's I was in Birmingham I came across for advert Kerry Minnear's advert for him as a music teacher. I rang him up and he seemed not very interested in talkinng about GG so I left him alone. I saw John Weathers in 'Man' and he told me that Kerry had discovered religion

I'd chop off my right arm to see footage from the Acquiring the Taste tour. By the time I started seeing them in the late 70s they'd dropped almost all the early stuff from the set. Anyone got any??? please.

"Best" is so subjective ... I prefer to say they were the "most amazing band" ever!
@SveinNOR16 жыл бұрын
Sad story this band has.. as most other good prog bands they were ruined by recordcompanies in the late 70s early 80s.. They have alot of good songs, and although i wouldnt chop my arm of to see them, i would, under circumstances, pay a sh*tload to see them perform. I raise my glass!
@wigginsdesign17 жыл бұрын
Comparing unique great bands is futile to me. Yes is uniquely YES. Tull is Tull. Nobody can be Zappa. But GG brought something else to progressive music different than Cow, etc... And it was brilliant. I saw all the above then and GG twice at close range doing this song and others early-mid 70's. They were incredible!

Esiste una musica più completa? Melodica, innovativa, barocca, rock, medievale, jazz, tecno, ........ Credo che alcuni brani del gruppo rappresentino la massima espressione della speculazione musicale. Filosofia della musica. La sento da oltre trentanni e suscita sempre nuove emozioni. Qualcuno concorda o sono da analisi.

Hologramix 1 It's a minor chord, but not the Em of breathe. Looking at Gary's fingering, I'd say it's an Am.

@DrFoofyMan Well put...but there are allways bad side effects. Complex music and intellectual capacity often lead to a very strange self-realization, which then leads to critical view on the world, which then leads to depression and social isolation. Or is it just me?
