Bruh, I hated Anne Lister in the beginning. She was so obviously playing Miss Walker. But it was so0o0 much fun watching her low key fall in love with Ann. By the end she's shook by the genuine ferocity of her own emotions. It's fire. (I also low key can't wait for Ann to discover Anne's original motives in season 2 lmao)

Don’t know if you’ve seen or reviewed “The Diary of Miss Anne Lister” but it’s pretty terrific. I met and hung out with Maxine Peake (Ms. Anne) during its Frameline premiere at the SF International LGBTQ Film Festival. I will check out this iteration.

I've been catching up with Gentleman Jack Seasons 1 and 2. This is a pretty good summing up with some great humour; and strangely the placement of the first ad break was hilarious. The silly music of the ad made it even funnier.

Well done, Evelyn. As always. Loved the humor. I agree, the subplots in Gentleman Jack were truly meh. The last time I binge-watched the series, I fast-forwarded through every single one of them, including much of the coal biz-ness. As if we haven't seen enough murder stories, Sally Wainwright just couldn't help herself and delivered upon us yet another -- 19th century style. Really, Sally? In the second series, it'll be interesting to see if Wainwright gives us the historically accurate version of Anne Lister, and her relationship with Ann Walker, or continues with the highly romanticized version that made the first series so popular. I'm betting we get more of what we got. Entertaining, but dishonest. Thanks again for the entertaining re-cap! Happy viewing!

just finished watching season one....each episode is better than the last. love the story ,and that it is based on the reality of a force of nature called called Anne Lister, an out lesbian in the early to mid 19th c....daring and dangerous...this recap was passabley compiled, but frivolous...the subject matter deserves better.
