Very informative! I always “scuffed” at 220 but I’m totally gonna go down to 120 on the wood and 40 on the g10 now! Also, gluing up together on a single piece of G10... which you mixed your glue on is a stroke of genius! I will be experimenting with this method on my next batch

Well I’m glad you learned something from these crazy videos and I hope to put out more in the future

I have always cut the liners before glue up. Your way makes way more sense. Also mixing on the liner genius.

Thanks so much. I am doing my first glue up adding liners to my scales and you just save me a bunch of time and probably from making a few mistakes too.

Really informative video! I just watched your Multi-piece knife scale video first. Great ideas to make my process better. I will be following your lead on the glue up tips for my next handle. I have always wanted to do a multipiece scale, but didn't know how to start. I must say you do a good job of recording video with just a a cell phone; as a video professional I'm impressed. count me as a new subscriber!

Great video They do a lot for looks but adding a glue area don't seem much beneficial but cosmetics. Still I'll add some on later build. Thanks

I put 1/4" digits in my wood scales facing the liners and fill them with epoxy for extra glue strength

Thanks for sharing-cool scales too! I was curious about the process of shaping scales without sanding into etched surface. Do you pre-fit and shape before etching the blade?
@gentrycustomknives80082 жыл бұрын
I shape everything after glue up and re etch with a qtip

Hi Donnie here. I contacted you the other day about the belt grinder. Many thanks, am gathering materials to build one for my needs. Never done knife making before, but have made some cleavers, and am now constructing a 10 inch Butcher knife. Now, where do you purchase this epoxy in these large containers? Along with a large metal fab shop, I also have a large woodworking shop, with every available tool, I am tool poor, almost 60 years in the making. Enjoy watching another craftsman at work. Picking up some G 10 this afternoon, from the machine shop. Be waiting to here from you, thanks.

Do you go that aggressive with sanding the liners when they’re going to be paired with a resin/wood hybrid set of scales? I’m always afraid that the deep scratches will be seen through the resin. Awesome work with the videos, they’re a huge help

Good video except you are clamping with too much pressure resulting in squeeze out of epoxy. Light clamping works best.
