​​ It's not a Chinese dish it is indeed a Nepali dish. The traders/ byapari of Kathmandu valley used to trade with Tibet for a very long time and they got the idea of momo from Tibetan dish "dumpling". They brought the idea back to Nepal and made a new dish that is Momo. What makes momo different from the dumplings is it originally uses buffalo meat and it is steamed and not boiled. And it is served with its own dip. So momo is inspired by a Tibetan dish but momo itself is not a Chinese dish. Momo may not be "the national dish of Nepal" but the dish is still native to Nepal.
