I played against a hades like this who built movement speed items, its absolutely the most frustrating thing ever. Hirez has fucked the other game modes over by balancing everything for conquest. The only way to counter this is to watch their build carefully and if they start going more move speed, switch to building straight movement speed. These players are garbage, you won't need physical power to kill them

I'm the mercury. I was counter building him actually. He had shell and thorns. Both defensive relics. No movement speed and full ability damage. Once I saw his relics I knew I won. If he bought blink or sprint or even crippling curse to use when my 2 was down he would have probably caught me and won. Arondite or Atlantas bow would have worked as well.

I've played against a merc just like this. as osiris With only slows and one type of reliable cc, he could ignore me and take my objectives so long as his 2 was up. if I tried to engage him, he would ult past me and take pheonix/titan. If I tried to defend hardcore, he would whittle down my objectives and run away over and over again. If the God you are playing can't reliably cc and then nuke him, merc can just bullshit around the map and win. It's not fun lol

This is why I don’t like duel anymore. It’s been my most played mode ever since s1 and and makes up 41% of all my smite games, now I just can’t bother with it. I’ve ended in GM multiple times, last season included. This season, along with how extremely fucked up the mmr system is, you have to deal with this and just take Ls. Had this happen in 4 games this split by now. I lost all of them despite going 3/0 in each of them cos all they gotta do is do what happens in this video, if they have more mobility, they can just do this without you being able to do anything about it and will win the game. The worse thing is, as I mentioned, how fucked the mmr system is, as this can happen in games where you have lower mmr and 5% variance and you can still lose 40 mmr which makes no sense, if you ask me. While I can comfortably reach masters, GM is kinda out of the question for me right now. I just don’t have the mindset to lose the mmr I gained in ten games in a single one where this happens.

Savu Dan I also play on EU for the most part (I can queue NA and get like 100 ping) but yeah, you are losing way more than 10 games per loss, I just didn’t want to sound like I was exaggerating except I wouldn’t be. Every win was like 0-5 mmr for me and then you can have losses go up to 294 or something like that if you have any variance left. Even with 5% variance it can easily get to 100+ or close to 200 even. I won a game yesterday cos as I had nothing to do I decided to go ahead and queue a match and I got 174 mmr at 5%. Just as it doesn’t make sense that you can be set back massively for one loss, I think it’s equally stupid that you can comeback or even get way higher than you were before off of one win. I’ve actually gotten into conquest a lot due to how duel is right now and I’m doing pretty good I guess, since I’m at 3k mmr right now, but I still don’t play smite all that much as of now since duel is/was my cup of tea. I really agree with you, I know it’s not the main mode, I know it’s the least played one too since it’s sorta a “niche” mode, if you will, but it’s still ranked and as you said, the mmr system this season really should be addressed. Last season it got crazy too depending on the actual game, but this one the gain and loss really don’t make any sense at all and just discourages me from playing it all together, as I don’t see how GM is an indicator of skill right now. While it is true that you can get GM, I think it’s fair to say that there’s no point in getting it if you can get demoted from it after winning 30 games and losing a single one or because some random guy like this merc or the mercs, bakas and kalis that I got will cheese their way through games like this and end up having more mmr than you

Here’s the biggest issue. Rexsi could’ve built all the movement speed he wanted to try and keep up and Mercury is still going to come out on top. 1. He gets bonus power from movement speed in his passive. 2. Mercury ult allows him to cheese his way to backdooring and escaping from backdooring. Literally can’t stop it. 3. Immune to snowball, can’t snowball him if you can’t kill him when it matters.

On another note, it may be time for Hi Rez to consider a proper anti-movement speed item. A concept to make is similar to the anti healing auras is an aura that reduces an enemy's movement speed back down to boots speed when within 55 units from them, and to balance that so that MS items aren't just pointless is that it procs once, affects for 2-4 secs, then has like a 40 sec cooldown.

I get that conquest is the main gamemode, but duel has been in this horrendus PvP state since years, it literally makes me and i'm sure a lot of other people not want to play this gamemode It's not even hard to mitigate bullshit like this, just make the demon king like totem is in conquest solo lane, not an objective you can steal, but an objective you have to dps before your opponent does, yeah it would make snowball stronger, but if you are getting snowballed in a 1v1 then you deserve to be in a disadvantage, it also makes it impossible for mages like vulcan and poseidon to nuke the objective from far away, they would have to be in the zone, making it easier to force a fight Honestly duel needs anything that makes tower camping disadvantagious and reward agressive plays, but I doubt Hi-Rez even gives a shit

This is more of a movement speed issue than ye player tbh. If high Rez allows this type of shit in the game, there are bound to be scum bags who will abuse it. Look at the root of problem; movement speed is absolutely game breaking when enough is equipped to a god. Salt the wounds by stacking it on gods who benefit by speed or have inherent speed and you have unbalance
