I don't know that the towing experience is any better, but the convenience is definitely worth it. I switched to the Gen. Y Gooseneck on my new fifth wheel and that is another great option!

How many inches from your goose ball to your cab? I have a Ford 6.75 bed and have 36". Hoping not to have to spend another 500 bucks on the extension. Currently running Andersen.

Thanks for sharing the video. Was that an “off the shelf” hitch? I’m am about to pull the trigger on one for my trailer. I’ve learned that they will custom make one that is 3” longer for greater cab clearance. I have a short bed RAM and wasn’t sure if that would be necessary.

My hitch is definitely the standard length. I wasn't aware they even made custom hitches. I still haven't had any trouble making a turn or backing in anywhere and that's after two seasons of camping with the Gen-Y hitch.

@@WeekendRVAdventures thanks for the quick reply! My dealer talked me out of the gooseneck (the Reese at the time) when we got our trailer. They said there was no way to run it with the short bed and I’d have to get a sliding hitch. Fast forward 2 years and I’ve never had to slide my hitch…time to get my bed back.

Is the Gen Y hitch approved by Alliance RV, so the warranty is still good on the RV.
@WeekendRVAdventures5 ай бұрын
As far as I know Alliance hasn't certified any aftermarket hitches although I really wouldn't let that deter you. In my opinion, the warranty on a new RV is so short it really doesn't matter.

Nice video! I am in a similar situation. I started out with an Anderson Ultimate Hitch on our 2020 Ford F250 towing our 2021 Grand Design Reflection 340RDS. Everything has been great, but I am wanting to move to the Gen-Y hitch for several reasons. Q: Can you re-use the safety chains from the Anderson Ultimate Hitch with the Gen-Y hitch? Thanks!
@WeekendRVAdventures10 ай бұрын
The chain I have for the Gen y is one long chain and the Andersen used 2 shorter chains. You could probably connect them together and make it work.

How's the ride compared to the Andersen and the Curt that you pulled it home with? Does the shock absorption in the Gen-Y help smooth out the tow at all? Have you gotten past the 1k miles break-in period?
@WeekendRVAdventures9 ай бұрын
I am past the break-in period. The ride is slightly better than the Andersen and Curt setups were, but don't expect it to be some dramatic difference.

I noticed you didn’t use an offset ball. Any issue with the turning radius?
@WeekendRVAdventures10 ай бұрын
We never had a problem with turning radius. I could not get quite to 90° but there was never the situation where I felt like I couldn't get in or out of the campsite.
