Hey Geo, I’m glad to see your update. I talked with another Irons fan about my mixed feelings regarding the Cherries away game. We have little faith in JLo’s ability to coach a playing style, manage or motivate our players, or communicate clearly with fans. So, the result wasn’t a surprise.

Good to see you Geo. Best wishes to you and yours. I agree with your assessment of first half. We had some good moments and thought we looked better than Bournemouth. Second half neither team were good passing or defensively. Fab def MOTM. We are still struggling when teams go on the counter attack against us, especially in the middle of the park.

Yes it was a penalty: if you look closely, he was trying to get his hand out the way, thus it was an "artificial" movement, and it did hit his hand just observing the change in the ball's spin 3. As usual Geo, a solid and intelligent review. Soler is clearly a good player, very comfortable on the ball, with his basic distribution thoughts being in the forward direction, unlike Rodriguez who just looks to make the easiest pass. I would however like to see him playing further forward with Paqueta taking the 6 role, which is (I think) how they were set up for the Newcastle game, BUT on STRICT instructions that he's not to tackle anyone in the final third, and especially not in the box. He's a professional footballer - he ought to be able to do it. I'm also not sure what's happened to Soucek, because it seems he's really been working on his control and distribution, and is now almost first on the team sheet. Like you, I'm still not sure about Lopetegui, but surely he deserves a bit of time. We're not going to get relegated, and whilst the season may be a write-off with regard to Europe, he may be a good manager in the long run. I gather from the comments you've just become a Dad. Well done - though your problems are just beginning!!

Congratulations Geo! Hope that the baby and mrs are dling well and recovering quickly :). Maybe the first game she is in our world for goes well. Absolutely agree on the points. Our attack is poor when both Soler and Paqueta aren't on the pitch and the defence is just not working. I don't think the defensive line is the problem. I feel AWB, Todibo/Dinos, Killman and Emerson have done quite well. Rodriguez, Alvarez and to some extent Soucek have been horrific on the defensive end most days. Honestly we should just either run a Postacoglu/Howe all out offensive tactic or just give Irving or Orford the chance to play more minutes. This team can't play a high line with the DM we have. They are too slow. Has to be low block or a tactic of West Ham 5 - 4 team X where our defence for counter attacks is a yellow card. Current tactic can work offensively woth the players we have with only slight changes but the defence will remain bad. Maybe if Loppy's 3 - 2 - 5 attack has AWB in the back 3 it can work as long as anyone with a yellow in the 2 gets subbed out quickly. Idk the players on the team are amazing. On paper looking at the names squad it's at least on par with Spurs, Newcastle, Villa, Chelsea, MAN U, even Liverpool and Arsenal. The players even seem to like eatch other and I would think that they can fill a lot of different lineups and tactics to compliment eatch other. Lopetegui though, is really bad at managing personalities and either doesn't understand the way the players are best utilised or just believes his tactics to be so good that it doesn't matter. I feel like he might be trying too much and making tactics that are complicated to an extent it gets hard for the players to know what he wants them to do on the pitch. I think he might have a chance of turning it around if he hadn't gotten into conflicts of that caliber with Kudus and Todibo. Now he just has to be replaced because the teams morale gets affected by things like that even if they win alot, which they don't, so this might eventually ruin the whole atmosphere in the locker room.
