Thank you sir for your nice video. I cut the sapphire crystal and maybe the orientation is not so good. How we can determine the right c axis using a double polarised microscope? We have to find a point where there is no light going through the crystal when our eyes are perpendicular and parallel to the c axis of the crystal. By doing so, we can determine the angle of the right c axis. Is it correct?Thanks in advance.

Why in double refraction only 2 rays emerge, that is O ray and E ray why not more than that? why only 2 rays are emerging and not 3 rays or 4 rays?

because the ray can obey snell's law or not ..there are only two conditions. PS the ' why ' is irrelevant... because 'Why' never satisfy any scientific question..rather you should ask ..How!

I understood how to determine the sign,but couldn't get what is indicatrix actually and what are it uses,why is it formed? Please explain Sir 🙏

It is the Geometrical representation of RI of the mineral, so the axis are proportional to the RI, for eg If a Uniaxial indicatrix is a prolate ellipsoid it means its E ray RI is larger compared to O ray RI direction. for better understanding watch my previous video on refractometry and Isotropic minerals, at the end you will find.
