We need more geochemistry videos on KZbin. Good job

Thank you so much for this!! It's currently 1am and I was stuck working on a petrology lab reading REE spidergrams, but this cleared it up!

thanks a lot it's really helpful and very brief as an introduction for REE patterns! I was lost before this video! thanks again

can you please gives sources for your information? e.g. for the interpretation of Eu/Eu* or Ce/Ce* values, thanks

What could be a source of REEs in Carbonatites??
@taiwobolaji42743 жыл бұрын
Thank you William for this series. I really appreciate them. I would like to learn the practical steps involved in geochemical interpretation of Traces and REE, especially normalisation using PAAS, etc. Could you please recommend any textbook?
@WillDSmith953 жыл бұрын
Hi Taiwo - sorry for the delay in response! Geochemical data by Rollinson is a good place to start, also Principles of Igneous Petrology by Winter is good for practical use of traces and REE - you're taking the right steps by getting a fundamental understanding from these videos!

Hai Daniel, Really nice vedio. Can you do more in-depth videos on REE analyses on water?
@WillDSmith953 жыл бұрын
Hi! Hmm, I don't know much about REE in water sadly, however, I'm sure the principles of solubility and partitioning are same!

Could you please talk about NASC(North American Shale Composite) normalization

Sadly not something I'm familiar with but can take a look, thanks! 👍

What does "compatibility" means here?

Question....could you please explain this to me. what do i have to consider when determine whether any soil and rock has an anomalous high concentration of an element. And how do i evaluate the anomalous concentration of an element in an area. Please and thank.
@WillDSmith952 жыл бұрын
Hello! Anomalous concentrations of elements are of course relative to the dataset. You should consider producing things such as box plots or quantile plots to determine the 'outliers' in your dataset for your subject element. There are of course typical background compositions of continental crust you can refer too for reference

Hey can you please suggest me or make a video on how to interpret the epma data or Mg# vs Cr# in spinel?
@WillDSmith953 жыл бұрын
Hey Ajaya, interesting suggestion. The spinel minerals can be tricky to interpret since they are almost an element dustbin in silicate magmas! Perhaps give me an idea of the mineral you're working with and some context to the study. 😃

Excelente explicación. I got it, and it's not my language. Nice job.
