Geoff Tate - In other words Lyrics
We see... what we want to see,
but only a drop of what could be.
Stop me if I'm going on...
I dream in stale complacency.
And in other words ...
tell me you're all right.
Just a whisper and I dreamed you cry,
but I survived, courageous here ...
and in other words ...on other worlds.
And when my hands begin to bleed
will you stay and comfort me?
I feel afraid I might be living. Yeah.
And if I had to the ends of Time
would I ever make you mine?
Just a whispered "yes" is all I need.
Tasting you still on my tongue,
shaking conch shells one by one,
and trails of peaceful inequities.
Insincere flattering by other ones
in other words ...
And when these wounds upon my brow,
begin to seep the truth we found,
do you feel we need to keep giving?
And if I promised the world for you,
I could make it all come true.
With a whispered "yes" it's all I need.
I don't know about tomorrow.
I just know, I'll remember today...
and the way... you looked at me.
If my hands begin to bleed
will you stay and comfort me?
You looked at me.
You looked at me.

His voice may not be what it was 25 yrs ago but the LYRICS will never change. His talent and songwriting is priceless. I have so much respect for this man .

Back in 2002, during his tour of this album...I got that opportunity. I worked at our local rock station, 94.5 KFMX. Being the HUGE Queensrÿche fan I am...my program director knowing this, asked me if I would like to pick him up from his tour bus, bring him to the station for an interview, and then drive him around to run a few errands. I got to spend about 5hrs with him, just he and I. I took him to Barnes and Noble, he bought a book, then we sat at Starbucks. He bought me a scone and a coffee, and he shared stories about his current tour along with other things going on with Queensrÿche. I asked him a few questions. One, in particular, "What inspired/who created the Tri-rÿche?" It is/was a day I'll NEVER forget.

I heard Tate live a few weeks ago. His energy, his voice is back. He needed the break up, and some time to find him self. Just wait and see, his next album will blow you away.

Cary Brauer, I agree that the passion is not always there, but it was when I saw him this summer. In my experience, he is always fantastic live, though the video/audio does not always capture that. I intend to see him in March also.

Love how people are singing the praises of Geoff on here yet anywhere else nowadays claim he's "lost it" cause he doesn't have his old range. He could perform these songs in his sleep.

Geoff solely stands out as a "solo" artist. I was hands on the moment his first CD hit the shelves(well they were taking them out of the boxes) lol. After being a Queensryche fan for over 20 sum odd years, I was in HIGH anticipation of absorbing myself into it. Usually, even with Ryche, I'd have 3 or 4 songs that I loved. The others were just "on the disc". His SOLO CD blew me away! I COULDNT skip a song because EACH one moved me in a different way. My eyes have seen so many QR shows I can't co

Well this is a great song. Wish it had sold a million copies for you. Did you have a hand in co-writing many other songs on this album? Are you the guy playing keyboards on the tour - I saw it in St Louis - July 2002 - there is a live video uploaded from that show if you search for it.

That is called evolution....if everything was always the same then we would hopefully grow bored! Thanks for the breath of air Carrell. We were there at the Rock n Roll Museum (Seattle)...among other places....would love to see more evolving! I would also use the word "solo" gently.....Jeff Carrell wrote most of that album and did tons of the vocals even live if you watched that.

I'm still amazed by this song and this solo CD! I don't know what the hell happened on the second solo release, but it completely lack the originality of the first. All I know is that all the singers who have gone solo sound like they're just doing unused songs from their old band. Geoff Tate impressed me on his first solo release by shattering that myth and totally disappointed me on his second solo release. Come Geoff, surprise me again! I know you have it in you. It's okay to do what's NOT expected!

Good news bad news first, ....Good news is that the young listeners are hungry for compelling music, and Geoff has a certain way of being intimate with Queensryche fans, bad news is the relevancy of Queensryche vs everything that that young music fans idolize today!!!!! Geoff I think you should write a song about personal, rather than political feelings based on a stunning lady that broke your heart after 30 years of marriage, you know who she is and how dedicated you were to her. I met her too

I love this one. The entire album all around was decent and really ģood. I'm not sure how much of an influence or critic Susan was in partaking in this. Geoff has a part of songwriting....but still lacks in certain areas. His awesome voice makes up for that. I wish him and his family the be st in life! He has truly left his mark! Icon vocalist!

Maynard James Keenan is a great example of an established singer who branched out into other genres. Transitioned from heavy rock to a more trippy hop sound. Try Puscifer. The name is awkward, but really, Horizons, Oceans, Tiny Monsters, Momma Sed... great stuff.
