If these companies are receiving DEI funding then they are playing the long game. Companies that don't adere to certain policies will not receive favourable funding from banks and other funding streams. The competition in the future will shrink and if you are not in the club you will not exist. Many of these companies are part of a bigger company so the other can compensate for any failings.

You are also correct concerning future competition, which will be near zero. It's not much different than the fat layers of retailers in the energy sector or the other fat layer of retailers for Australia's NBN network. The public were promised that privatisation would increase competition and lower prices. That never happened. We were also promised that "renewable" energy would lower our bills .. which was another big fat lie! If you do comparisons of pricing for these retailers there is "some competition" to be found ... about $3.00 worth at the best.
