@@CosmicSeeker69 It was discontinued in 2022. This is a fact, please Google it or go to Nissan's website. I thought you would have checked before posting. It will be replaced by the Townstar, but production levels will be much reduced, and a higher number of the petrol variant, over the EV variant, will initially be manufactured. I'd also be wary of buying any existing env200s, unregistered or delivery mileage, as the proprietary Chademo rapid charging system has also stopped support at many rapid charging stations, and will become obsolete within the next five years or so. Fine, if you don't mind waiting 5-6 hours at least, to charge in future. But probably game over for a business user, or campervan. The vast majority of owners. EVs are a bit like mobile phones, at the moment. Rapid changes, that become obsolete, with decaying batteries, that never reach their full lifetime, just getting thrown into landfill after a few years, with little residual value. Not very "green". I don't know why someone would complain about their tyres only lasting 30k miles. I had an e39 M5 for about 20 years. The back tyres would wear down to the steel belt in 6000. And no I didn't do burnouts and hardly ever chirped them. I did learn to conserve them, but then the car was a pain to drive because had always be thinking about how much throttle to use.

What’s the range on an ID Buzz? Can’t see it being useful as a camper unless the range is high. Road-trips are what the California is all about isn’t it ?

we have a standard 5 seater in plain white and love and live it❤ Yes it cost a bit but it is so versatile like my old T2 was that i had in the 80is Transport of any stuff going for trips with my mountain bike .. sleeping in it , travelling peacefully and listening to to music... my wife does twice a week a 80 mile round trip carpool. I do not care about the weight ... it rolls smooth and ffs i do not have to lift it😮 10k on the clock 20kw per 100k Software is average with a few glitches but after a while one gets used to it. The new lower prices are a bit of a disappointment but it doesn't spoil the party 🎉 My wife never loved a car before... she is happy as "Larry"

The Buzz is a sassy looking beast, only problem is that it's an EV. We see videos of companies converting ICE vehicles to EV, will we be seeing companies converting Buzz vans to ICE? Could be a market for this. 😅

I live not far from a VW dealership in Bristol. My commute takes me pass the dealership and often I’m sat in traffic outside it. Not a day goes by when I see one of these arriving on the back of a recovery flatbed. Or a few parked outside on a recovery truck waiting for a space for vw to store it. I also saw one smashed up which was wonderful.

According to google & VW: Kerb weight in kg = 2,353 including driver That's about the same as a Series 2 Discovery. It's UNDER the 3500kg EU "personal vehicle" limit for a nomral Class B license. There are loads of them here in Norway, also registered as commercial vehicles with green instead of white number plates, meaning they have to be reg'd to a company, and have a max of 3 seats. The reason for that is probably because they cost NOK550k, and as a 4+ seater the tax takes that up to closer to nok700k (about 65,000 GPB).

I was very tempted by a Buzz, because I want a small electric camper, and have been waiting since about 2016 for such a thing. I even test-drove one (car version) but it's a bit small even for us as well as very expensive. Currently waiting for the extra space, bigger batt and bidirectional charging of the LWB version. But it looks like one should still wait another year for the excitement to wear off and get a s/h one for a hell of a lot less money. I'm only going to rip it all apart and camperise it so having it pristine is pointless expense. But 'fairly new' is good as it's a lot of work and I expect to use the thing for at least a decade.
@ChrisHipkiss Жыл бұрын
Voltswagen! Do they have a special size tyre like the caddy? Those are more expensive, so an EV one with softer rubber will be even costlier. Not much use as a camper if all that weight makes you sink on campsites. Do campsites have charge points? Would you sleep in it while it charges? Just asking!!
@davidgavin7280 Жыл бұрын

When the latest Bug/Golf came out I hurried to our nearest VW dealer 2 hours away, yep I was getting a brand new bug and nothing was going to stop me, then I drove it. It kind of resembled a bug of my youth and to be truthful it was probably twice the car the 74 beetle of my youth was, but all the things that made the original so wonderful we’re gone, no whirling boxer 4 noise, no engine in the rear and spare and trunk up front, no smell of gasoline or the feel of cable operated everything and leavers that were supposedly connected to a heater somewhere, but I never ever felt any heat, no Queen Led Zeppelin or Elton John in the tape player, no best friend Mike riding shotgun and keeping a eye out for chicks. The Beetle of my youth like my youth was gone for good, no matter how good or bad this EV van is it can’t come close to being the original and that breaks my heart😏

I think they look amazing, and would buy one at the right price. Needs to drop a fair bit first. If it fails like the old Renault Avantime, then could be some very cheap ones soon. I bought an Avantime for £12k; down from £30k 17 months before when new! Thinking about it, an Avantime would make a great EV conversion!

I recently bought a 2009 VW T5 1.9TDi. Love it. Spent some money customising it but it is the nicest of things to drive and I can rest in the back if I need to. Like the look of the Buzz but that is where it ends for me. Oh and my van is registered as a motorhome so I can legally do car speed limits too.

I met a guy on holiday who lives in the Derby Peak District who bought an electric VW van for his business. The Peak District obviously is very hilly and when he goes out in his fully loaded van he often worries about getting home due to the loss of mileage when fully loaded negotiating the terrain.

Very interesting point (which I didn't know) that they are all classed as commercials. We own a 2019 Transporter T6 Shuttle - which is taxed and classed as a diesel estate car. So £185 (or whatever it is now) standard car road tax and 70mph on dual carriageways with a central reservtion etc - not 60mph for the identical vehicle if it were a van! Our T6 is a T32 rating for weight so not sure how much it weighs is the factor here.

so this has been my arguement with the enforcement gustapo (TRAFFIC POLICE) for quite a while... I have always owened a meduim panal van, mostly the 'DISPATCH' range, and they are produced under different badges... So, there is the citron Dispatch, which is the same as the Peugout EXPERT, or the same as the Toyota Proace. ETC, you get my point. however, these body shapes are made into, lets say the JUMPY, which is a 7 seater car... So as a panal van I am restricted to 60mph on duel carrigeways and motorways, but as a JUMPY, those restrictions don't apply, and is able to cruise at 70mph on said roads, but it is the same chasis size, the same wheelbase, the same in everything other than the amount of glass inserted into the panels

Thing that gets me about electric cars is it’s been done before 130 years ago and it never worked then just like it doesn’t work now so do they persist. Is it so they can push climate change which it does quite often four seasons and all that. To put it bluntly I wish it would hurry up cause the summer we’ve just had was rubbish it was warmer in the autumn great vlog 👍

I love the concept of the id buzz. It's great. Unfortunately I am not in the position to purchase one, even with the prices plunging. However if I could buy one, I think ultimately I would be put off by the interior. The white upholstery that they all seem to come with, is not exactly lifestyle friendly. At least not my lifestyle. It would irritate me every time I climb in to see the stylish seats being soiled by grubby hands and feet, along with detritus from pastries and crisps. I don't deserve nice things!

Vehicle to load is when you can plug your power cord into the front of your vehicle and use it as a backup battery. 2 kilowatts is roughly what you would get out of a standard 230V household power outlet.

The glass roof gives a lot of head room. If you have a tall family, It's got the room. (Im the 6'8" dude)

During the pandemic i bought a Fiat Talento LWB high spec onyx edition 6 seater van for £25k including vat brand new. I got it fully professionally converted for £18400 again to a high spec. The total being £43400. I regularly go to the Scottish Highlands and the 170 bhp euro 6 engine always does me proud with it's over 650 mile range and at £43400, very cheaply for a brand new camper these days. With an id buzz, it is currently too heavy to convert and still remain within the 3.5 tonne licence class. Even unconverted it only has a motorway range in cold weather of 140 miles according to the EV database. Now add conversion weight and a charge anxiety buffer and you are probably down to 110 to 120 miles between charges. This is a vehicle that was many many years in the design, that is too heavy to be a camper van for a target audience, too expensive as well and can only travel a sixth the range of a standard diesel camper van. Why did VW ever think that it would be a success ?
@patrickdaly598810 ай бұрын
Loved the concept of this so much. All this needed was to follow through and have utility of our old Sharan in EV form. Instead what we got was 5 seats (with bench seating in the back) vs 7 full size independent seats. It boggles my mind what little this achieved given the platform it’s sitting on. Also, I’d have accepted an EV premium, but even with the huge prices the spec was simply atrocious. A failure on every level.

He also said that they ordering a month more petrol/diesel ones than they have sold this year. Also selling the buzz for 5k-10k less is wiping out the profits on the buzz He also told me vw are buying petrol/diesel transporter off people for more than they brought them for work that one out

I think most people miss the point and all the articles that are out recently about how “EV demand plummeting” doesn’t understand how much interest rates are gutting sales this year. The auto sector compared to real estate does fluctuate the purchase price in relation to the interest rate. Record high purchase prices and interest rates will have a limit to what people can afford.
