Love mine! It's green and from 1997. Such a joy to drive it and to admire. I remember few weeks ago, when I met a Woman, days later I was waiting for her nexto where she lives and when she saw me with the car, I remember her " heuuuumm, is that your caaaarrrr?" ahahah The XK8 gives you so much for less money. Plus it's classy without beeing ostentatious.

The XK8 and XKR are more or less the Aston Martin DB7 but with a V8 engine and a lower price and less electrical faults. They are great for cross Europe travel and any long distant run and as an everyday car. As with the Aston Martin, the rear seats are not really practical. Lots of support from other enthusiasts and as you say in the video, great lines. I have a 2005 XKR with 20 inch wheels and Brembo brakes and it looks superb, also very quick with the supercharger on the 4.2 V8.

I looked at all the XK8's and XKR's from 1999-2012 before I bought a 2010 XKR Portfolio. I thought it was the most modern, fastest and updated version while still maintaining the old style design.

A good buy that, what colour did you go for? I don't like the chrome gills on the later model, but that's aluminium if i'm not wrong, so should be a fair whack lighter...

Lovely car and they are a bargain now. I have the later X150 model and it's the best car I've owned. The V8 isn't the most powerful thing around but the sound and power delivery is addictive. Engines to enjoy whilst we still can! Reliability is far better than many think too.

Yeah I have to agree with you, mechanically it's very good it's just the cosmetics that let this car down, like the sagging headlining. I am going to go over the history and find out if this car spent time abroad because the interior has worn in a way that makes me think it's been in a hot climate. glue has dried out etc...

Geoff, totally agree on the wheels, I love these early disc style (I think they might be called revolver) wheels. It an awesome car... so much so that it lit a spark to start looking for one..

They seem to start around the £3k mark, but it's not that easy finding the iconic earlier style cars.

The arch gap on the rear is massive, I'd say it needs lowering a good 20mm at least
