I agree. Hopefully Jordanians and other neighbors of Israel have learned from and work with Israel's longtime permiculturists in this way, to reclaim the desert and continue to provide work for Palestinian Arabs in Judea and Samaria just across the border. Shame the PA, Hamas etc work toward destruction rather than help their own people.This can be a way forward so that Israel won't need to defend itself against terrorists anymore.

Brilliant, when I see how industrious Abla has been in that climate and rocky soil, I feel no one can say "I can't grow food", we in the UK just don't know how lucky we are with our climate. Just think how it would look if all Abla's neighbours made a similar effort. Well done to all who helped in the project.

Hello, Abla ~ from a desert of USA ~ where we are also "blessed" with the rockiest of "soil" ~ yet is healthier than living in the city. There are many living, giving things you are tending which are also in my three year plans to build a healthy soil that will feed pollinator, mind, body, and soul. It is said that a good student learns more from a bad teacher than a bad student learns from a good teacher. Fortunately, you are a good student of another good teacher, and you are teaching that which is good.

I’d love to see her place in 2 years. Watching this almost makes me want to move there to do the same. The lush green Forrest’s of Maine are just not the same kind of challenge.

Wow this video is so amazing!! This woman has transformed her little plot of land into a desert oasis!! This is how the Garden of Eden worked, I’m sure of it!!! This knowledge could most definitely transform the desert. Imagine all the drought and famine in parts of Africa and imagine imparting this life saving knowledge to help crush starvation in those parts of the world!!

Hi Marianne it is all about working with what you have and passively modifying the conditions towards diversity in every way you can. Higher swale mounds create more well drained conditions, deeper swale sections create production ponds etc.

I've started almond trees, river willow, grape, fig and pomegranate all from cuttings or seeds. Also acacia, honeysuckle, juniper/cypress and carob. Working on hazelnut + loquat/shesek. All tiny now, but growing every day around some marigolds, kale, tomatoes, radishes, rocket, turkish rocket and some other experiments (and bugs). I thankfully learn from this garden every day.
