Amazing , these steam engines were serving till roughly around 1995 , apart from this creation of railway lines is also amazing , basics of railway lines still exists with few changes . It is foresight of that time Engineers ,till today the same pattern is being followed , Even the railway stations , Yards and extra space for expansion which were made and planned thoughtfully , 100 years ago are still serving the purpose. The overall very basic operations of railway system is still the same . It is efforts of our old people and we are enjoying the Railway facilities. Major Old Stations like Bombay , Old Delhi , Madras are the examples , even small stations are still the same . Only major changes are the auto signaling , auto track changing and the Electrification of Power Engines . Salute to our old people and Engineers who gifted the Railway System , the Error Free Railway System , to the Entire World . After seeing the movie , sequence of changes and developments in Railway Engines , it came to my mind and it motivated me to write this .

Thanks for the feedback, Devendar. It's hard to imagine how those early engineers thought railways might develop - I wonder what they'd have thought of today's railways?

Is that the reversing warning at 1:38 or a smoke alarm?

Amazing! One of the first to make steam engines. I wonder what the first trainspotters thought when they saw it ....moving...

Anything new that made noise was thought satanic by the masses.

@@howdoiputthecheeseintheove8437 Actually there's a photograph of some 'spotters in 1892 on the GWR's last broad gauge train out of Paddington.

It's faster than my internet. Which may seem a silly statement but my broadband is slower than dial up and it takes longer to load a page than this loco covered 50metres from a standing start!

she was originally 4.3, had no whistle. a wonderful replica however. wish she ran farther down the line. they where only a single cylinder with a odd drive system, but they where still good work horses that can hall a far amount of passengers.

There was never an original. Construction was started but there is no record that it was ever completed. The first authenticated Trevithick loco ran at Pen-y-Darren in 1804.

+Dan Man10 Gaming his invention of the steam locomotive changed, social behaviour our undertsanding of time our place in the world and wht we ate and when we would eat it, the village idiot vanished pretty much in a single generation. and inspired thousands of inventions to support it, Yes sad he died a pauper but it doesnt take away from the mans achievements:D

+Dan Man10 Gaming sadly he doesnt get the credit he deserves, in effect he is not taught in schools unlike Stevenso or Eriksson.

+peter forden i don't they teach kids about them as well in history, its always the same crap they teach kids like the Pompeii disaster and all that other ancient facts that most (if not, all) of us know already.
