Bonaparte consistently asserted the superiority of the civil over the military and acted that way. Few absolute monarchies were as cruel and brutal (and had crazy world conquering fantasies) as Napoleon. Absolute power doesn't always create monsters like Napoleon, Stalin or Hitler. Of course it makes it more possible, as the various Louis's proved. Absolute monarchies were the rule, not the exception. That doesn't make them euqal. And judging them out of context with 200 years political hindsight makes no sense. Live in Prussia for example was considerably more safe and reliable than in France. The legal reforms of Frederick the Great went beyond anything the french Revolution achieved. And he was an absolute monarch. PS: @TY: Have a little read about Cromwell.

It has a door with a roof box above it that perfectly aligns with the sun on the Winter solstice and a roof so well made that it's still waterproof to this day. Archaeologists are baffled on how these people were able to build such a sophisticated structure before the advent of writing and the crane and how advanced their knowledge of the cosmos and the exact alignment of the sun was. Shows how skilled my ancestors were in construction techniques,lapidary design, mathematical calculations and astronomical observation. Because of Napoleon in Germany there is a very good and delicious type of bread available! It's called Pumpernickel and it was created for the favourite horse of Napoleon during his time in Germany and at first it was called Pomme pour Nicole because the name of the favourite horse of Napoleon was Nicole and in the region in which it was created by the people they said Pumpernickel because they only understood it like that and until today we can eat it and it is so delicious and healthy for us to eat and one of my favourite ones! Lovely greetings from Sarah and have a great day and enjoy your time and stay safe out there and take care of yourself and your family and friends and stay blessed and healthy and happy right now 🙋💖😍

How funny to watch this video directly from Elba! Apparently his last words leaving the Island on the 26th Feb 1815 were: "I will come back, my Sons! I leave my mother and my sister in your hands." I guess when he didn't come back, the locals went "oh well, he's gone for good. Let's go to his villas and sell everything that isn't screwed down to the floor."

I admit I hit the like button on these videos before I've even watched them. I've never been disappointed with the information and presentation so at this point it's just pragmatic. Edit: in spite of the above praise I feel it only fair to add the mild criticism in that I doubt anyone ever referred to him as Boney.

This is the best set on KZbin. I reminds me of the Turner Classic Movies Private Screenings set with Charles Osborne. I just want to live in this set. I wonder if Simon would mind.

Aside for the Iberian campaign most of his “conquering” was in defense of the revolution ideals and France in general.

So, him stealing the Netherlands from the people was a form of defense?? How, ffs is that a defense tactic? The guy was nothing better than a Hitler, or a Lenin and the like... Stop worshipping guys that are (directly) responsible for the deaths of millions and millions of people!
@Raisonnance.4 жыл бұрын
@@haploideallel UK paid other european's nations to do war against France. What do you wanted ? France surrender to ennemy without a fight ? The reaction was the war. They wanted to put a king again and they had their ass kicked. That's what they deserved. Blame UK for millions of deaths.

The last time NAPOLEON returned to France was as a corpse. He "resides' in a custom made marble tomb in the middle of Paris. You can go there...You can also visit Elba and St. Helena

Excuse me, 'petit corporal'? I think you are mistaking him with a 20th century guy in Germany. He was 'Lieutenant d'artillerie' or lieutenant of Artillery and an officer when he graduated and went on to take back Toulon from the Brits
