It's so crazy to me to think that, most likely, there is an ocean under one of the big ice moons that you could legit scuba dive in. If there's liquid water and a survivable pressure, it MUST be a temperature you could survive for a while at with an insulated regular diving suit. Even weirder to think that when you came up for air through a hole in the ice, you'd die more quickly than by holding your breath underwater.

I've always been fascinated by Triton ever since I learnt of it back in 2004 as a teen when reading a now outdated Astronomy book named Explorations. I honestly believe that Enceladus, Triton, Ganymede, and especially Europa have carbon based life. Maybe even as advanced as jellyfish! I also believe that Titan has some exotic silicon based life.

I wonder what was about that "Czech winter" punt. I think it was just subtitle typo, or maybe mispronouonciation, cus in Czechia winters are actually quite short and very moderate compared to the most of other landlocked countries lasting usually from early december to mid/late february and where temperature rarely goes just slightly below freezing.

ice = water. water = H2 and O2 for fuel | H2O2 for oxidative reactions. plenty of H for hydrogenation (making acids/bases) and O for Oxygenation. Add any hydrocarbons (methane, ethane, etc) and you got the raw materials for A LOT of stuff.

What's great about science is the fact no matter who makes the discovery, everyone around the world can benefit from it. If China does go ahead with picking up the Neptunian torch, it could spare the scientific community an additional 40 year wait period on any discoveries for Neptune and Triton.

I was born in 62 so as you can imagine I've grown up with the Space program. And I love the space program and all it has discovered and all that it will. But when under such budget constraints, I think sending two more missions to Venus is a waste of funding that could yes, give us a probe to Triton. We already know what we need to know about Venus for now, which is that it is Hell. We've mapped it and I don't recall anything showing up that needed NASA's immediate attention... Personaly my money is on Europa, simply send down a lander, Then the Submarine Ice drill can do its thing... Easy Peezy... HERE FISHY FISHY!! :)

Venus does have active volcanoes. Mars also has them to but the majority of then are dormant or extinct.
