Regarding black people in Argentina, they did not migrate to "black-friendly" countries. Especially they did not migrate to Brazil, which maintained slavery until the end of the 19th century. Argentina abolished slavery immediately after independence (in 1813). The black population in Argentina declined because Argentina experienced a flood of European immigrants throughout the 19th century, diluting African blood with European blood. Currently the black population in Argentina is growing but due to African immigration.

False. The 1813 didn't not abolished slavery, just declared that the new born will be free. Slavery was only abolished in teh 1853 Constitution and as Buenos Aires didn't accept that Constitution till 1959

Argentina has slavery till the 1853 Constitution, the 1813 Assembly only ordered that the ones being born will since then will be free. Many slaves were forced to join the Army during the Independence wars and many aristocratic families sent their slaves instead their sons

​@@edschnir Yeah that's truth but to that time (1853) practicaly the slavery was not practiced in a way properly of slavery, with the excepcion maybe of a lot of aristocratic families, even them were friendly with black people or propiciated a threat uncommon to slaves. For example the Rosas (populistic, but in fact he was born in an aristrocatic family) governement was friendly with blacks, and he governed for almost 25 years in Buenos Aires since 1828/9, many other provinces members of the "Liga Federal" joined to that politics. Don't forget the Assembly of 1813 were conformed mostly by people from aristocratic families like the Alvear family and others.

@@mharg6408 yeah, as you mention "El Restaurador" and his good relationship with blacks, he gave land to that community, but because most black supported him when Rosas went down, the Unitarios stole their lands and made them fall in poverty. Also many of the colonial blacks went with Jose de San Martín to fight for the indpendence of the whole of South America, and never came back. And of course we have to factor that the governement of Mitre made them fight in first line because of their previous support of the Federales in the war of the triple alliance against Paraguay, and finally the open mixing of races that happened in the 1900 "dilluted" (if we can use that term) the black genetics. As in Slavery, the 1813 assembly also reduced the input of slaves to the country, also the whole revolution and independece process because most slaves who arrived to Buenos Aires had as a final destination Peru to work in the silver mines. When Mayo came along the spanish no longer bought them from the south and started buying them from the north of the subcontinent. So when in the video he says "anti african legislation", yeah, proabaly a reduction of slave owning can count as that.

There is a mistake, Mt Aconcagua is not only the tallest mountain in South America, it's the tallest mountain out of the Tibet Region. Also you are outdated since the population reached 44 millions.

Hey guys. Cheers from an Argentinian historian. First time watching. Nice reaction, and nice video. I just want to clarify a couple of things. First, the Islas Malvinas are legally ours, and the UN agreed with that, but Britain has always refused to even talk about it. Second, 'Argentina' was not named because it was thought to have lots of silver, but because its main river, called 'Río de la Plata' (Silver River) was used to transport silver from the main silver mine in all of America (Potosí, in actual Bolivia). Buenos Aires is located at the end of the Rio de la Plata. The other arguable thing is about population. Although I agree that about 90% of the people have any European ancestors, probably 90% of the people have mixed blood. One of the main 'things' we have in the 'Spanish' Latin America is the thing we call 'mestizaje': a really high level of mixing between ANY cultures living here. That's why you don't see many american natives, or africans, or europeans itself. You just see people that have a little of everything.

"Argentina desde el aire" is an incomplete video that repeats many times the same provinces and leave others out. For me is a totally mess, because starts from the south, then to the north, after that it goes back to south, then west, east, south again and same provinces!!! I mean that video is a "disaster", you can't show something beautiful like that! Is like you are trying to buy some clothes at the store and the seller throw all their nicest dresses, jeans, shirts, etc, on a counter at the same time!!! 😑😑😑😑😑 👎👎👎

Also African population (during the Independence days) fought in a lot of battles, because they were promised with freedom if they join the revolutionary side (a lot died and unfortunately not all were liberated), some fierce men and women weren't recognized for their work during this battles (only recognized by some of they generals and people who fought with them but not by the government who was composed by the higher class (always the same with Rich people, they only care for their own asses, except for a few like general Manuel Belgrano who used all his fortune to fight and keep his army alive in the revolution (there are others too) but this great Patriot died sick with absolutely nothing to his name except a gold watch that he use to pay to his friend and doctor, Back to the African population, a lot died (along with a lot of the general population) with the epidemic of yellow fever, and another big part has mixed with other people, White, criollos (Spanish descendants who were born here) ,and natives or amerindians where called in the video?

here's what happened to african-argentinians: they were a third of the population in Buenos Aires city, but that number was rather small, about 80,000 total city population back in 1800. Between 1880-1910 argentina received around 3 million Europeans, mostly Italians. So, there you go. Another thing. Why so many Europeans would want to come to Argentina anyway? Well, Argentina was one of the richest countries in the world back then, with a GDP greater that France's. It was part of the Americas, and many immigrants certainly achieved their "American dream" here.

It was actually the Mexican poet and Nobel Prize winner Octavio Paz that used to say that “Mexicans descend from the Aztecs, Peruvians from the Incas and Argentinians from boats”. Meaning that culturally speaking they are the most disattached country of all Latin America. Ever heard of imprinting? This is when a duck hatches and thinks that the first thing that he sees moving thing it’s his Mom.

Es cierto !! una gran parte de ellos vasco-franceses, de hecho creo que es el tercer grupo etnico mas numeroso de argentina, junto con los sirios y libaneses.

Actually, the most probable cause of the African descendants decline in Argentina (by 1880s it was a third of Buenos Aires city's population) was the massive European immigration... If you take into account that some decades passed that, only a 1/3 of the population had Argentine ancestry. On the other hand, slavery in the River Plate was nothing brutal as on southern US or Brazil. There weren't massive plantations that required people's exploitation and, also, the Spanish Catholic culture was somewhat less racist than the British (Spain is already a mixed country thanks to a millennium of Arab settlement in the peninsula)
