Small info: In South indian state schools the respective state languages(like Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, Malayalam) and English are the one taught in schools, not hindi, but in certain selective schools we can select hindi as an opted third language to learn it like any other language even if we want to learn french we can opt it. But the respective state language and english are the compulsory languages we must learn in south indian schools. For example, I'm from Tamilnadu state, so I've learned Tamil and English in my school, since tamil is my state language. So don't get the misconception like indians everyone knows hindi, because we don't. And hindi is not an national language, it just one of the official language among other fellow official languages of india.

It was really well done. Greetings from someone who's in Mumbai n about to go to the UK. It's really complex, I since childhood know 4 languages: Hindi being the official language & most commonly known, Bengali being my mother tongue (since my parents r both Bengali), Marathi since I live in Maharashtra and English cuz that's what you study in. Also, the population of Mumbai+Delhi cities is greater than the entire Canada. Which I find nuts. Heck, Mumbai with 5M people is just 2. 5x away from Scotland with 12M people. Different cultural foods is definitely a very interesting topic, I often smell unique foods from most likely Pakistani or Punjabi homes as that is the biggest minority were I live and is far more appealing than the average home that smells of chips (fries) I've stared at maps to a point I can picture a world map in my head. Geography is probably the reason a lot of countries exist the way they do if at all.

I'm a devout Hindu and it is quite normal for me to have vegetarian food while my friends would have beef (forbidden in hinduism) at the same table. It is mostly an age thing, meaning that the slaughter of juvenile cows is not allowed. Also, female cows are preferred for milk, although it is not a law. Cow slaughter is completely banned in eleven states (out of 28), but even in those you can have beef because of a loophole that allows import of beef from other states where slaughter is allowed. Keep in mind that wherever it is banned, only killing of cows is banned and not consumption. Beef can be had everywhere in India.

Odisha has 90% Hindus. 2- Half of all the hotels in my city have beef on their menu. 3- I am Bramhan Hindu from Parashar gotra and i don't eat beef. I also don't mind if anyone eats beef. Nobody here minds if anyone eats beef. 4- There is an entire neighborhood dedicated to meat of all kinds including beef in the Capital of Odisha. It is near the Master Canteen and Laxmisagar area. 5- Not a fact as much as an advice. Don't do your "beef politics" here in Odisha. People are liberal, progressive and open minded here. You'll end up in a hospital. 6- People who want to can openly consume beef here. You probably should never come here, people like you aren't welcome anyway. Stay in the villages of UP Bihar or wherever your own "well" is. Because here in "our" India, every culture is accepted
