@sizanogreen9900
@sizanogreen9900 6 жыл бұрын
Yeah, clearly categorizing people that far from the past into modern groups isn't always that easy. If I am remember correctly the Franks originally came from the area around belgium/the netherlands. Then expanding to include most of modern day france, a lot of germany and I think even a bit of italy. Then splitting into three kingdoms, western francia, lotheringia and eastern francia. Western Francia then eventually turned into france taking up the name. No guarantees though (^_^)'
@ankhi3585
@ankhi3585 6 жыл бұрын
Old French is still mostly Vulgar Latin. The Frankish influence mostly relates to the pronunciation and spelling (it's the main reason why French looks so different to other Romance languages although the word roots are the same and the grammar is very similar) and loan words (the words starting with "gu" in French and "w" in English for instance).

Yay, Malawi! I can finally share what little knowledge I have! 1. From my high school history, I remember that in 1953, Malawi (Nyasaland), Zambia (Northern Rhodesia), Zimbabwe (Southern Rhodesia) formed The Federation of Rhodesia and Nyasaland in 1953 for economic reasons. It ended in 1963 due to political reasons with Malawi and Zambia gaining independence in 1964. 2. The similar language you mentioned at 9:53 is called Nyanja, spoken in Zambia. It's sort of like a slang-infused version of Chewa.

Hi Paul, would like to say. When you mentioned the Central African Railway network, in this Malawi video. You displayed a American Locomotive (Train), travelling through the country, instead of a African Malawi Train. Any african locomotive or train would of been great. Instead of a an American 4ft 8ich gauge train, in most African nation, they have/use a narrow gauge railways, which is 3ft 6ich, like Malawi. You do great video and I'm not disliking what you do, just thought to let you know.

Hey! Also coffee is a sizable export! I work at a coffee roastery, and we just got a coffee Malawi that has a very high rating (89). Coffee has a scale of 100 for quality, everything less than 84 is commercial grade, Starbucks, McDonald's, IHOP, that kind of coffee. Everything higher is known as specialty grade. We skip over coffee that is 85 or below, and a farm from Mzuzu actually produced some amazing coffee which we have at our sister coffee shop in Southern California. Wonderful video Barby!

Love these videos so much! I’ve been waiting for Malawi for quite a while. I went there with my school in 2016 to visit the projects we supported. One of which was a secondary school in the rural north. My school was the only organisation which supported then!! I was a bit surprised that you didn’t mention that lake Malawi is the calendar lake as it is 365 meters long and 12 meters wide. I was however pleased to see you mention the strong links with Scotland, I’m Scottish myself and when I went there were literally Scottish flags everywhere I swear even more than the national flag!!!

South Africans are kind of split in two regarding Malawians. Some feel that Malawians are coming in and stealing their jobs while others believe that Malawians are kind hard working people and that they get jobs because they work hard for it and deserve it. I generally have had positive experiences with Malawians and always found them to be very kind and hardworking.
