The king of this country Mswati III changed the name of the country on his birthday on April 18th 2018 and on completion of 50 years of independence from British colonial rule . eSwatini means "In Swaziland"... the e- is a locative prefix and the -ini is a locative suffix. Swazi is how you say Swati in Zulu language. The letter z in IsiZulu is the letter t in SiSwati..

GwazaJuse So what was wrong with "Swaziland"? Okay, I understand changing the "-land" part with an equivalent in the local language as a way of removing all colonial connections. So Swatini or Swazini is fine but why would you wanna name your country as "in [the country name]"?

Hey. Thanks so much for this video. You don't hear much about Eswatini on the net.😅 I was surprised to learn that the Thompsons Gazelle is our national animal!! That's news to me. So let me get this right : the people have always called themselves weSwatini and the country "the Kingdom of Eswatini" translated in English, but the rest of the world just called it "Swaziland" out of ease and finaly we corrected that ? Or is it something else. Great video Barbs as usual Keep it up !

Going to many different countries in one day is quite normal where I live. I am from the south of Austria. It only takes me 15 minutes to Italy and then another 20 to go to Slovenia. If you want to take it further you can drive another 90 minutes and you’re in Croatia. Sometimes I have breakfast at home with my family in Austria we then take our bikes cycle to Italy, have lunch there go to Slovenia and visit my grandmother at the border and go back home. 3 countries, 3 different cultures and languages all within a matter of hours.

In regard to Natan Gamedze, it should be noted that he is probably the most controversial figure in Eswatini, due to the fact that even though he is a prince of said country he decided to move to Israel, convert to Judaism, and he became an Ultra-Orthodox (Haredi) Rabbi.

You didn't mention this but there are literally more Swazis in South Africa then there are in eSwatini. Their ties to us aren't just due to the Zulus, they are completely dependent on South Africa. The only reason they didn't join the union is basically, like Lesotho, the monarchy.
