Love this comparison and thanks for covering it in such detail! 1. Third largest metro in PA is the Lehigh Valley (Allentown-Bethlehem-Easton) not Harrisburg 2. The Lehigh Valley is pretty great these days. Bethlehem embraces its rust belt vibe and its a beautiful small city. Allentown has some work to do but it has good bones, a nice downtown and a lot of culture. Easton has seen a lot of revitalization in the past ~20 years and has a vibrant arts community. I don’t know Dayton so no shade, but don’t discredit the Lehigh Valley. It’s a really nice place to live with a great proximity to major US cities and historic areas.

Oh no no no - Pierogi are an Eastern European food and are a HUGE deal in Cleveland....ok and in Pittsburgh too but give us a break! We also have Po Boys, kielbasa and sauerkraut, pazcki, and so many other awesome foods. Can you tell I feel personally attacked? jk jk great video, but I think that there is so much more that Ohio offers that you didn't mention - Cedar Point, Cleveland Clinic, our multi-cultural neighborhoods and traditions, Cleveland Orchestra, the Columbus Zoo where Jack Hanna works from, Mansfield reformatory where Shawshank was filmed, an amazing amount of incredible museums, our restaurant industry is/awesome (Michael Simon is from Cleveland), also SE Ohio has other national forests and great places like Hocking Hills...I could go on and on. I think that Cleveland gets a bad rap because they don't know about these good things, only the bad like the river catching on fire back in the day.

Economy: PA Landscape: PA Urban Areas: PA Proximity to other places: PA Transportation: PA For real, there's no comparison. Ohio is fine, but PA is a powerhouse state. some regions have fallen really far, but not as far as places like youngstown ohio. I don't think you've actually been to the Lehigh valley wtf...Allentown and Bethlehem are both extremely nice cities majorly recovering. They have been hit hard but to write them off as "pretty nasty" is just way off the mark.

Okay…my bias will come through now. The Lehigh Valley is the third largest metro in PA, not Harrisburg. I’ve never been to Dayton/Springfield, but spending oodles of time in the LV (lived there for 17 years) I can say your assessment is off. While the manufacturing has never quite recovered and there are rough areas, the last time I was there things have improved. It is also a growing metro, one of the few in the Northeast. It’s proximity to New York City helps it tremendously, as it is literally the last affordable area left within a 100-mile radius of NYC. Many New Yorkers have moved there and, while Downtown Allentown still needs some work, it was amazing to see its transformation. Southside Bethlehem is cool and funky now and has become what I envisioned for it decades ago. I love your videos but that assessment of the Lehigh Valley was off. Good video, regardless.

Should have mentioned Toledo and Akron before Youngstown at least. Also on the sports section, Ohio State is a HUGE part of Ohio culture, from not just sports but research and health services. Added to the list are: the most U.S. presidents, a constant swing state, arguably the best baseball team in history of the Big Red Machine, not to mention the vast importance of high school in the state. Granted all of this, Penn still beats out Ohio from the simple fact of more history being the birthplace of the U.S. Side note, I was born and raised in Cincinnati and my girlfriend lived in Pittsburgh for a few years as well as my dad travels there for work and they are truly 1:1 mirrors of each other. The only thing that makes them somewhat different is how Cincinnati borders northern Kentucky and a lot of people from Newport and Covington identify with Cincinnati more so than Kentucky.

I visit that area quite often & it's much, much better than you are making it sound. There are MANY colleges in this area, tons of festivals, a very nice Wind Creek casino, plenty of entertainment, great restaurants, etc. Tons of NJ people are moving to the LV to escape the high property taxes & they are bringing there money & expectstions with them. Tons of new homes are being built, Easton is undergoing a serious revitalization. Ok, there are a few neighborhoods where you might hear of an occassional shooting. Ohio is one of the most diverse states in America, much more diverse than PA. PA is basically all hilly forest. Ohio has tall grass prairie, flat lands, rolling lands, small mountains in the southeast, a huge great lake, a huge river... Almost every kind of major agriculture is present and significant in Ohio, much more than in PA. Big cities, small towns, rural areas, sports of every kind from college to minor and major leagues. Great road system in Ohio too, much better than PA's with higher speed limits, less tolls, and more divided highways overall. Ohio has the full political spectrum well represented and major importance in national politics too. Hot sunny summers, cold snowy winters, nice springs and falls... PA has a convenience store battle that is kind of interesting. When traveling through PA on the western side Sheetz are usually a bit cleaner, nicer, and laid out better. In the east, Wawas are often more grimy, uninspiring, and laid out terribly. But Sheetz can't make a hoagie worth eating whereas Wawa hoagies are some of the best you will ever get. So Wawa wins unless you don't like hoagies for some insane reason. But the point is, Ohio doesn't even have any good convenience stores. However you can buy beer at most of them, unlike in PA (but that is changing slowly)...Keep up the good work, Kyle!

I LOVE Cedar Point, but sometimes it can be a little overwhelming. You certainly can't ride everything in a day, or sometimes not even a weekend. The lines can be really long. PA has several amusement parks, but in the middle of the state is Knoebel's which is just lovely. No, it doesn't have anywhere near as many rollercoasters as Cedar Point and it's not on a peninsula, but it's in the middle of the woods, so you are in the shade all day. It doesn't feel overly commercial. There's a good number of rides, great food, fantastic prices. If you get a chance I highly recommend checking it out. It's a different experience than CP, but nearly as fun. (I enjoy the Phoenix rollercoaster, more than any at CP EXCEPT Millenium Force from the front seat. You get ridiculous amounts of airtime on the Phoenix..)

Despite what Cleveland and Pittsburgh fans would like you to believe, Eastern Ohio and Western Pennsylvania are virtually indistinguishable from each other. Once you get east of Harrisburg, though, you are firmly in the Northeast. The comparison ends at that point.

I got the best of both of them :) I live right on the edge of Ohio (Steubenville, OH area). Pretty good cost of living, housing, etc. Dean Martin was from Steubenville, and Wild Cherry from neighboring city Mingo Jct. But JOBS in my area don't pay well or don't exist for me (software developer). So I find myself traveling to Pittsburgh, PA (about 40 minute drive) for work and make a lot more than I could make in my area. I go though 3 different states to go to work. OH, WV, and PA.

As for the sports, the jackets haven't won anything(yet at least, they could go further this year maybe) and soccer isn't one of the four major sports(MLB/NHL/NBA/NFL) so that was why he probably left it out, I think Philly and Columbus both have MLS teams but even if included wouldn't swing the totals enough to make a difference.

Once the state business day ends and the commuters leave, it is in the low 30's at best. We have a GREAT capitol building in KY and it is also on a river like Harrisburg. I love both states and honestly as a whole, I don't feel competitive and just wanting Ohio to win because I'm from there. I love the Alleghany mountains and upstate PA in general, and I'm a huge fan of Pittsburgh. I adore Columbus, OH, it's a diverse and interesting city, I really like the Cincinnati/Covington area as well. I ADORE southeastern Ohio, particularly from a nature perspective; Hocking Hills (where I lived for six years), further south to the Athens area and Old Man's Cave. But I'm also more familiar with Ohio and have only skirted by the Poconos in PA and it looks beautiful. If it does get crowded I'd hate that, but it is a place that seems right up my alley. And generally, most of upstate Ohio sucks pretty bad. Not all of it, but definitely most of it. Despite my many times in Pennsylvania, I'm not familiar enough with the state to know if a region truly sucks as bad as the Cleveland area.
