Lady Love The only time I’ve ever heard “mountain chicken” is when people refer to eating frogs. Just like “mountain oysters” are really bull testicles that some people eat. I looked online & it is what I thought: frogs. Here’s the link: en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Leptodactylus_fallax

But if one day they do become their own country then i will have problem with them using my country's language as their official language. They should be like Koreans, in the old time korean's official language was chinese, but then they wanted to have their own culture so they created nowadays known as korean and made it as their country's official language.

Why should most of the Americans have any knowledge about the Commonwealth of Dominica it was one smallest both geographically and demographically nations in the world. Most of the world population even don't know that the anglophone Dominica exits. Plus there over 1.873 million (2015) Dominican-Americans/Dominican Republic so the hispanophone country would be more known in the United States.

I got to visit Dominica this summer and I loved it! I stayed on a sustainable farm in the interior, near Rosalie Bay and got to work closely with NET, and ended my trip in Portsmouth staying in a cute little cabin right on the beach! I was doing a Sea Turtles studies class and got to participate in a leather back nest excavation. The people were all lovely, happy to stop and chat. I actually got a chance to talk to someone who really enjoyed eating sea turtle eggs! It was very very interesting to hear his perspective as someone who is very very interested in conserving and protecting sea turtles! I did all the big things like visiting the Emerald Pool, Middleham Falls, and the Boiling Lake which were all stunning and well worth all the hiking and long drives over bumpy roads. We also went whale watching, did a tour of the Indian River, and got to snorkel the Champagne Reef! I wish I could go back and do all the things I didn't get to do in Dominica!

Very nice! You actually pronounced the island's name right, and most everthing else. The only mistake I caught was at 2:09, you said that Dominica is NOT part of the commonwealth, that it is a republic. Correction: The island is part of the commonwealth, hence the official name of the island: The Commonwealth of Dominica.

Sasha Saiko Brie is correct. Dominica may take part in commonwealth but we are no considered as par of the Commonwealth realm something i found out after the passing of hurricane maria. The British were evacuating their citizens and there were 3 persons who had not got on the liat flight and needed to get to Barbados where the brits were going to. They took the Bajan and the Lucian but left the Dominican lady back. Reason given my the commander was Dominica is not a commonwealth country. According to him they were only permitted to airlift Dominicans if it was a medical emergency case. This is not hear say since I approached him with the request for the 3 individuals.

6:22 I confirm that. That mum comes from Martinique and when her and her schoolmates went to Dominic to improve their english, they only spoke Kweyol.

Dominica, officially the Commonwealth of Dominica, is an island country in the Caribbean. The capital, Roseau, is located on the western side of the island. It is geographically situated a part of the Leeward Islands chain in the Lesser Antilles archipelago in the Caribbean Sea. The island is located near Guadeloupe to the northwest and Martinique to the south-southeast. Its area is 750 km2 (290 sq mi), and the highest point is Morne Diablotins, at 1,447 m (4,747 ft) in elevation. The population was 71,293 at the 2011 census.

Wow so cool! I always thought the Caribs had all died off or assimilated into other cultures.
@davidschultz15628 жыл бұрын
Lol nope. Although Dominica has the only full-blooded Caribs in the caribbean, nearly all of the islands still have people with significant Carib blood.
@davidschultz15628 жыл бұрын
Jon Smith Yes, virtually all of the eastern caribbean islands have carib descendants whether a few dozen or a few thousand, although it is thought that Dominica has the only full-blooded caribs. However, on all the islands, european blood and african blood are the vast majority.
