Can't wait for the Cave episode! A sidenote, wouldn't Lapis Lazuli be considered a rock and not a mineral? Seeing that it is Lazulite along with other minerals that make up that beautiful rock. Regardless, awesome videos as always!

Thanks boio! You are absolutely correct about the Lapis, its a metamorphic rock. I should change that or at least say something. I'll talk about it in ore's episode and 1.2 of this video when the next update comes out.

@@gneissname Does this mean that Lapis ore is the first metamorphic rock and not *slate?
@gneissname Жыл бұрын
@@Yegor_Mechanic you are correct.

It could be argued that all the different ores are the first metamorphic rocks, as there is no real way to get concentrated ore deposits without some amount of metamorphism. Deepslate is the first distinctly metamorphic rock block.
@cillianennis99215 ай бұрын
@@xiphosura413 But then again Lapis can be made into blocks still kinda making it the first. Also the presence of stone generic may imply anything depending on how we work out what it is.

Why would stone be limestone? The existence of deep slate at lower depths insinuates that the stone is shale. It also does kinda look like shale.

Just in case you haven't seen his other videos he gives a pretty good explaination for his reasoning but I do agree it makes more sense if the generic stone is some form of slate but it does feel a bit too common to be that. It likely is a few things & the character can be taken as just thinking of them all as stone due to them looking similar. Like how most people will say something is stone when it really is different things. Limestone & slate in certain ways look the same & to a non-geologist they'd just think of it as stone.

I wish that they added desert roses made from raw iron sand and sandstone I think it could have been a cool feature

Okok considering cryovulcanism is a thing, would that make ice an igneous rock?
@gneissname Жыл бұрын
You can make an argument for that but it would get confusing since most people would assume you are talking about hot rocks and not ice when talking about igneous rocks.

All correct. Mud was added after I did the last update. I need to do a new video.
