I wished I could afford a metal detector, my wife and I have dedicated our lives to rescuing dogs and have so for 17+ years now, fought cancer 9 times and lost, currently fighting off the 10th, but something to get my mind off of the devastation we are experiencing would be fantastic, but like I said to start with, just can't spare it. Just wanted to say though I could listen to you Jeff for days on end man, and learn all I could about geology. We live in North Carolina gold has been found here in Stanley Creek, and I would search myself , but I can't right now, the dogs need me. I honestly love your videos and would donate, maybe one day I can bud, hope so. Good tidings and hope you have more great adventures with your awsome enthusiasm!!!!

Hey again Jeff,. That's what one of my mines are... Fissure fault. The mine I've been working. Coarse grained granite on both hanging and footwall... Fault filling is mostly schist hosting sulfides and brecciated iron stained quartz. Theres also intrusions of granite that's like a conglomerate type structure. There is 3 veins running thru the fault. The veins are nearly vertical. This is all underground in a shaft I'm sinking.

Hi again Jeff. I'm down about 60 or so feet now. But we really need to continue trying to keep the mining alive. It's becoming like a dying art and most are too lazy(the able bodied ones I mean) to do it. Although they go out and get claims they never do anything with them. Then they hold those claims for years and years which keeps the true miner any chances of reworking those claims. I think, in my perspective, they get them just to say they have them. But now, in my own opinion I think that if they can't work them or are too lazy to work them then just don't bother claiming them up at all. Leave them to the true prospectors and miners that will work those claims. And btw, I got all those geology terms... From your vids. Hehe

My first impression was you were at Goldfield, but then I saw the Elephant Tooth and knew exactly. LOL ! Love those stringers of chloridic veins. Amazing ! So, this would indicate that most metals would have been oxidized millions of years ago, leaving the gold behind ? If so, would be perfect for leaching. Wondering if there's enough volume for open pit heap leach operation ? Those brittle vein structures would leach like candy ! Thanks for showing us around Brother Jeff. As usual, we smashed that "Like" button real hard for ya !

A lot of similarities in the desert. That's why there's so many lost mines. Behind Oatman looms a distinct white volcanic ash extrusion called Elephant Tooth. You can see it for miles. Dead give away. 👍

Jeff, im liking your new style of teaching geology much better. I hated your previous geologic model videos where you spouted out a bunch of unexplained geologic terms in rapid fashion. Now you are in the field and showing us visually what really counts like rock types, structures and alteration. Good work! Could you possibly show us a different type of gold deposit and compare and contrast the oatman type with that new one? Great discussion on crack and seal quartz vein development. Also could you flesh out more that connection you made between rhyolite and quartz vein or good ore development?

Hey Jeff, I was looking at geological maps and it seems that any BLM land within my proximity is part of the Late Cretaceous epoch. The report goes on to say that the lithology of the area is of marine sedimentary & metasedimentary rocks such as sandstone, shale and conglomerate. Any possibility of finding the elusive gold in areas of that demarcation? I’m going to go explore regardless because one has to get off the hiney to get the shinny. Thank you!

Jeff, again, and I can expect nothing else from you my friend, an excellent and informative video with a glimpse into a bygone era and history. I am aghast and somewhat jealous of you guys in the States, the history and the exploring one can have, as a kid all I wanted to be was a cowboy and prospect. Now 40+yrs later, I get to fulfill that dream by watching vids like this in super wide screen . I have a question though that has intrigued and baffled me. During the aerial footage of the sentinel @4.54 time stamp, in the distance, in the top right hand of the screen, there is a different colored rock formation that seems to reach for the sky, what is it, it looks puzzling. This sort of thing is the reason if I ever managed to come to the US of A I would be there for 2 yrs or more, there is so much to explore. After all these years, I'm still subscribed so YT hasn't given me the flick and I'm still waiting for Slims store to re stock with some of that juicy juicy limonite paydirt. Big hug to the crew
@Askjeffwilliams Жыл бұрын
thats great my brother and we are really happy we can do that for you .... that is a rhyolitic neck ( Volcanic plug ) it is white due to all the felsic material in it and came from the top of cooling magma chamber. It came up first as it has a lower melting and crystallization point and as the chamber changed in composition due to Bowens reaction series so did the material coming out and thus you get intermediate and mafic material around it . They call it the Elephants Tooth in that area for good reason.... we are working on getting a lot of Limonite in stock so stay tuned for that announcement ....thanks my brother and you to ...Cheers

Jeff, Thanks for answering my question from your last video about quartz veins. Can I infer from this that A) Quartz (silicon) can be dissolved in hot, high pressure water, and B) these zones of veins were deep (miles) in the earth at the time they were deposited, and since then erosion has brought them to the surface?
@LuckyBaldwin777 Жыл бұрын
I would think it's uplift and erosion.

Oh and consider your location where you filmed this, Arizona, where there are 100’s of reported ufo sightings. Not saying it’s a ufo but Arizona does have 1000’s of sightings. The contact between the ryolite and the green andesite seems to be the place to look for me in my mind. Gold doesnt always follow the path you think it would. 2 oz per ton ain't bad! I imagine there might be times where its more 2 oz and times when it too little. Would one be able to find and Placer gold from the weathered hills around those hill sides? Yea i know it all depends. But there aint a snowball chance in hell ill be a hard rock miner. Im 64 and im lucky to dig a hole big enough to put me in afterwards. So the only thing id be doing is poking around them mines and certainly not in them. Great video! I feel like im right there with you.! Andesite is hard stuff. Genniss too. Serpentine can be green too. I wonder are they all choritic. Ill look it up. Facinating world of geology. The Grand canyon is an open book to the past. The processes over billions of years.
