I am a simple man, when I get a notification that has the word "Pluton" anywhere in it I sit down and listen.

This is a great addition to this A-Z series. Ayla is so well-spoken and seems to naturally explain her thoughts in a way that a layperson can still understand. And Nick, your questions really guide your interviewees to the important and interesting information, and helps them to deliver it for your audience to consume. Thank you so much for this. Even though you are naturally good at this, we can all recognize and appreciate how much work you put into it.

This is the greatest amount of detail we have gotten to this point on the Spirit Lake project. Spidergrams, diffusion rates, stuff we've learned about, or at least been introduced to earlier, is now providing us with a foundation to appreciate these upcoming episodes and projects!

Fantastic and fascinating discussion! It ignites in me a hunger to be involved in the hunt for answers that the science has for us to learn! Then I get a twinge of regret and resentment for my upbringing as a young earth creationist, and all those wasted years... But regret is only useful to inform our future choices, and without the circuitous path I took, I wouldn't be a trombonist, for which I arguably am much better suited than as a scientific researcher. I'm excited for the opportunities that today's students have to learn and contribute to our knowledge of our planet, and beyond!!!

It’s amazing how many experts are willing to join your project. You’ve created a worldwide interest in geology and making professional connections that goes beyond your own keen.

Ayla is so understandable - even to a 75 yr old with zero science or geology background except for Nick's YT teaching. I would love to hear more from her and from her student.

Great to meet Ayla Pamukcu, and great to hear about the Searchlight pluton and the Highland Range volcanics, since I used to live in the area and have hiked on some of those rocks.

Thanks for another great presentation. II noticed it popped up on U-Tube last evening but was unable to watch. Got up early today to watch in “rerun”. She does a great job, very informative. Too dangerous cold here, 18 degree F. one to hear more of her work on Spirt Lake when the weather warms up. Go some interesting photographs of Spirt Lake when I was flying. Take Care.

@@geoffgeorges I always thought it was a sandstone until I looked it up. Monzogranite, guessing that "monzo" part has to do with it's color. That quartz sill in her photo is really cool too.

Nick you asked last week about the color code system. First all you are a great teacher and we love your uniqueness. But when you make up different names than standard especially a set of names for a short term of study its like learning another language to learn what your teaching sure i know the german choclet cake is the columbia river basalts but is the whale going up the coast siletiza or something else. I know the numbers can get repeditive but then again hearing a layer is 36 my old helps drive the info into my head insteed of trying to remember green means in the 30s but wait is dark green early or late 30s? The more exact the words the better info is communicated. I tell people dont use pro nowns use names if i say my girl ran off after cattle i really havnt told you if it was coco the mom or daughters 33 or woody. Just advice from a guy a year oldrr than you and starting to get senile. Ps i finally got the fireworks but ryolitic or basaltic volcanocs convey more info
