Why do you add the fillets after the circular pattern? Wouldnt it be easier to add them before except the ones that can only be added after the boulien Operation?
@goengineer3 жыл бұрын
That is definitely a good idea. For training purposes however, it’s always a good to have fillets/chamfers at the end of the feature tree. It makes future modifications easier. Thank you!

I know this is just an example to demonstrate Geomagic Design X, but I'm compelled to ask a practical question: How much would you charge for the final part? If the part is no longer available (original, used, or after-market), and the reversed replacement is a one-off, then it will understandably be relatively pricey. If still available though, it's most often more economical to simply buy the mass-produced replacement part, of course. So, a second question is: When is it more justified to reverse engineer? TIA.

BTW, in part, I can answer my second question: had customer who needed a "standard" part modified (lengthened, in this case). $100 for a 5g part (2 units). Of course, material amount is most often the least of the costs in reverse engineering. BTW, was able to reverse engineer in a "standard" CAD app (no add-on, or 3rd-party app). And again, thx for sharing Geomagic Design X: could be essential is some use cases.
