It uses more collectables. The thing you said that function like orbs can be saved and used later. There are small things that could rotate platforms and triggers to move stuff hen you jump. There are also bosses like Overdrive which is kind of like Ultra Violence in GD. The jet packs are kind of like the ship, except heveier and could run out of fuel. If you pick up a gun, you could not jump until after you shoot and you have to time your shots in harder levels. Hope that explains.
