I am watching right now The great boarding House bathroom caper on Sky Gold and looking at the way England was , the clothes, the cars and the way of life and no people glued to a mobile phone, takes me back to my teens, life was just as hard as today I suppose but way more simpler and more genuine.

To be honest the 70s 80s 90s were great but looking at england now it's turned into a heap of nonsensical stupidity with loads of shows scrapped cause of political correctness back then noone cared about political correctness health and safety never existed cars were cheap no mobile phone zombies

discovered the show on pbs in the mid-nineties when i moved to buffalo, ny. cannot live without 'summer wine'! my sons have watched it with me since they were old enough to stay awake until it ended @ 8:pm .... i never saw my autistic son laugh @ anything on t.v. until he saw compo @ age 8; it was unbelievable. once, when he was about 11 years old, we saw the episode where compo is yanked off a bridge by a rope tied around his waist. we were all screaming with laughter, & my autistic son actually fell off the sofa, laughing!! he turned to jello, slid down on his back, then right off. it's still shown twice each week, & we're grateful to pbs ; :^) peace & love to the rest of you fans :)

The practicalities of time got in the way. As a friend of mine says " I wish they had the technology to regress the age of Peter Sallis 25 years, them keep him alive at that age for a thousand!" I've just bought the CD 'It Had to be You' on the strength of this and I can only recommend it highly to everyone. There is a real chemistry in the vocals, a real blend and mix so that each singer complements the other and the whole is more than the sum of the parts. I can remember an article in Record Collector about 7 years ago which said that Mike Sammes died after a fall at his home. The builders were throwing all his old scores away. Sad really, but he's achieved a kind of immortality here.

I didn’t know about this tv series until 2010. I love this tv series! The reason for writing this comment is that the theme song sounds so familiar! I know I’ve had to have heard it when I was probably around the age of 2-5 years old. I was in foster care for about a month. That’s the only place I can think of where I would have heard it. It drives me nuts trying to figure out if I’ve actually heard it before. Regardless I love the song it’s so very beautiful and relaxing. It puts me in a serene state of mind!
