My Grandad loved this sitcom, so did I when I watched it with him. Seymour, Compo, Foggy, Nora, Clegg, Wally and Eli were all my favourites.

Brilliant, Bringing Sam home I think is Last of the summer wine at its very best, and Lynda Baron, Lilly bless her!. Pure magic, I never tire of it. Many thanks. Gérard lacey in Ireland.

The was the first ever BBC extended Xmas special of one of their 30 minute comedy series.. programmes like Only Fools and Horses, One foot in the grave even up to Gavin and Stacey owe their classic Xmas episodes to this.

@@NPA1001 was it the first? same year all creatures great and small made a 90 minute special as that series had finished in 1980 this was 1983

I am most grateful for the lyrics provided here, not least because I am a big fan of the art of lyric writing, but also because I had been aware only of the charming orchestral version of this evocative theme. The author of the stories has to be one of the most gifted and deservedly enduring talents in sitcom writing. Take a big bow, Roy Clarke.

How interesting. Bill Owen had a long career in film and kept his place among the front ranks right to the end.
@alexlazebat8394 ай бұрын
yes and apparently bill owen gave the idea to do the film in the first place whether thats true or not as also all creatures great and small did a feature length special in the same year

Getting Sam Home is so funny. I believe at the time it was trailed as a kind of ( film) for Summer Wine. If I remember correctly. Celebrating 10 years of the show.
