part of my endless playlist ala yt. very engaging, frivolous, poignant, even witty. a barn burner for sure. more Gershwin than Stravinsky ...

The perfrmance is good - but it is a bit too reminiscent of Darius Milhaud!

A very engaging score this, with Antheil in his Villa-Lobos mode, or more appropriately, de Falla). Once again, his slow movement touches my emotions in a special way. The "Knife Dance", however, will never displace the "Sabre Dance" in popularity. (I just noticed that the full ballet, twice as long as the Suite, is also available on cd.)

Strange . The Ballet Mechanique and the original unedited version of his Jazz Symphony from 1925 showed a very promising composer. Then because he fled Europe he worked in Hollywood too often and was expelled and lost out on being the bad boy of music as he once was. As well a terrible blasphemy to himself was the editing of the Jazz Symphony. He should have kept better contact to Stravinsky.
