Actually, George's middle intitial is S, for Smith. Gen. George Smith Patton. 'C' was the middle initial of the actor who played in in the movie, George C. Scott.

The best combat secret is: The 91 Infantry Brigade of U.S. Expeditionary Army, WW1, all had printed the 91 Psalms, Bible, and all agreed to recite it daily, subsequently the 91st Brigade was engaged in 3 of the bloodiest battles, other American units next to them had 90% casualties and the 91st Brigade suffered NO casualties. We need to live for God and Country. Make Jesus Lord of your life and savior of your sin, stop sin and be holy and read the Bible to know God = heaven, refuse God's offer of heaven and you get hell fire for ever in the devil's kingdom Even Patton prayed the weather prayer and the weather cleared up.

As a teenager, in 70s I came to know of General Patton through ww11 movies & books. However I first came across the name Patton, when U.S. supplied tanks to Pakistan in 1965 war.But realised in 70s on whom the tanks were named.

They must have offered Walter a lot of money to do this intro. He did not seem very happy, I think he was practicing for his roll in "Failsafe". He wore the same suit, same glasses and had same attitude. He even pronounced Reagan's name wrong.

Another great film. Not mentioned is that after his illustrious career he choose to be buried with his men in Europe. Most top leaders rest at Arlington, but he sleeps with his 3rd Army men in Luxembourg. Very hallowed ground indeed.

Blood and guts, brought to you by beer and cigarettes from the great coach Walter Matthau. Coach of Bad News Bears. Grumpy old man. Great great actor, even more funnier in real life. I knew him well.. and then you put President Ronald Reagan in there with him. I knew him well, I knew George Patton. I voted for Reagan, got drunk with Walter, and patton stole my grandpappy's pistol in a poker game. True story.

Are you kidding? Patton couldn't even take Metz for nearly 3 months in autumn 1944. He was useless when coming up against good defences and fortified positions. Totally inflexible and incapable of changing tactics when the situation demanded it. Patton was no good at butting heads against a tough enemy that could defend well. If he couldn't outflank or encircle the enemy he was useless at moving forwards.

I have read several books about Patton not all were on his side but never have I seen that he was incapable of changing tactics. As for the Metz push he was ordered to halt because his army could not be supplied adequately. Literally his tanks were running out of gas. As for moving forward he was as aggressive as you can get by pushing his men to the brink. He swept the highly mechanized 3rd army across Northern France at breakneck speed. His army captured 956,000 enemy and inflicted 500,000 casualties. You try to make a claim that he was over rated as a battle commander but fail and instead achieve a bunch of nonsensical comments.
