Just saw George and P-Funk last night, and my god, that was one of the most mind-blowing shows I've ever been to. George doesn't look a day over someone in their late 50's, and the 3rd gen lineup is fantastic. The Funk legacy will never die, and will forever be one of the greatest legacies in music.

@@joycemarques3815 Maggot Brain is one of the best songs ever, hearing it live was crazy. Fun fact about the song, they had the guitarist at the time (Eddie Hazel) to play in the studio as if his mom just died in front of him.. then he played one of the best guitar solos of all time in one take. I always come back to this video every couple weeks, I love the weird/hype energy that the band and crowd has lol.

58:12 why people are naked?
@mileqjameel8166 Жыл бұрын
@@spcbatonrougedenton Your looking at a representation of a time where in the late 60's during Woodstock was the so-called Sexual Revolution. This was an idea that one didn't have to he secretive about being promiscuous, pursuing their dreams, going for their dreams, etc. One of the fashion expressions was to show more skin. For guys it was taking shirts off, piercing ears, with scruffy to long hairstyles instead of clean cut combed hair. For ladies, it was letting their hair down, showing more skin, wearing clothing that complemented their figure, not looking to a man for permission in anything, etc. This transformation carried throughout the 70's, which Parliament Funkadelic represented to the fullest. There's always topless girls and naked people at festivals like this. REMEMBER, this is Woodstock 1999. This was the 30th Anniversary of the 1969 Woostock Festival. This was a BIG DEAL. Read throughout the comments in this thread and you will find MANY accounts of folks being HERE & at the '69 Woodstock. This comment section is a treasure of experiences. In terms of being Naked at these events, There's NOTHING like letting it all hang out. Try it. REMEMBER, in the Words of Bootsy Collins, "EVERYTHING Good is Nasty but it Ain't no Fun till you PLAY With It".

At Jazz Fest 1997, and I don't remember how or where it came from, we had the hook up from Louie Babblin' Kabbabbie both on the fairgrounds, where we were hanging in the soundboard area, to UNO Pavilion, where we somehow hung out til way after the show was over--I think we ended up leaving backstage at 5am. @@Elizabethitsthebig1 It's really hard to compare shows because funk continues to evolve. George slowed the groove down in the latter years and it worked. The substance has not been altered even with the introduction of new musicians and diversity in their lineup. I have been with P-Funk since 1974 and each show is not the same. I've attended all of the concerts in DC from 1975 until. I love the evolution of the band and George's ability to keep the funk loose but contained. His musicians and singers make it so. Each era is a new experience. You can't go backwards.

For the heck of it, I've been watching all of the Woodstock 99 acts in order, and I got to this one, which is inspired chaos. You wouldn't think that having a dozen or so artists on the stage at any given time would necessarily work, but they had such a chill vibe, you can't help but get into it.

I was there and we had a ball! James Brown was the first performer. The entire festival was very diverse featuring Erykah Badu, The Roots, P Funk, Red Hot Chili Peppers, etc...I didn't witness anything but a great time, people helping each other out. We tore down a piece of the wall (which is stored in my garage today). I have plenty of memorabilia from this festival. The only negative thing is the vendors overcharged for everything ($5 for snickers bar, $5 slice of pizza, $6 for bottled water)...later on people overturned their tents. Overall, the music was great and I'll never forget it! Wished I could've went to Woodstock 1969 but I was just a few months old.
