Hands down, Dr House is the better doctor. Yes, he is a diagnostic specialist, but he would have to start learning the basics just like all doctors. So he would know how to do all the basic medical procedures. Remember, he used to have to do clinical hours to deal with walk-in patients.

Unless I had an extremely rare problem, House is not the choice. I love House, BTW. Definitely Dr House. He would have had the same medical training as Dr Ross. As we have seen over the 8 seasons, House has done clinic hours treating "normal" medical conditions, and he has performed simple surgical procedures. He is more knowledgeable than Dr Ross.

As an avid Cary Grant fan, I disagree. Geoge is stooped and walks like an old man. Cary moved with athletic grace to the end, he exuded an air of sophistication and he was a good actor. Grant had also been an acrobat in a traveling circus and his athleticism and grace is evident in his physical movements on film. Have to say that North by Northwest is my favorite Grant film (and there's a scene when Grant is climbing and jumping with outside of James Mason's house and Grant does it with such skill and ease that you can see the former acrobat in Grant).

Reminds me (kinda en passant) of a test where I couldn't for the life of me remember the capital of the Brazilian state of Santa Catarina. The question asked for the three capitals of the states in the Southern Region of Brazil, and I knew all of them but during the test I forgot the capital of Santa Catarina. The teacher was like, “That's OK, it's only one question, I'm sure you'll do fine even if you skip it”, but I was mad because I knew the answer but couldn't remember it. I ended up breaking down in tears. After I turned my test in, the teacher told me it was Florianópolis. I never forgotten it, not once, since then.

I chalk this up to them coming from two different schools of thought on acting. American actors are taught to embody their characters. Method acting is encouraged. Familiarity yourself with the character and internalize their dialogue. British acting is more external. Put the character on like a costume you can take off when the director yells cut. Identifying with your character isn't truly necessary, because this person isn't you, it's pretend play. What this does is that it makes British actors more versatile to playing different roles, while American actors may seem more emotionally authentic with their portrayals. Method acting has its positive aspects in that actors end up becoming a little more like their character and may pick up different skills and knowledge in their study of the character but the downside is that it may cause them more harm psychologically as they end up dissociating with multiple internal dialogs.

I find American actors less believable, because their acting (as well as the actor) is always so visible. Actors from the UK/EU are more likely to just dissappear into their role, they don't over-play it.

The thing about medicine is that even if you don't know what something is, a lot of the terminology is just built up from roots, and you can reverse-engineer it to understand what it is. For instance, with his "superventricular tachyarrhythmia" (no idea if I spelled it right or not), "super" means "above" or "top", "ventricles" are the bottom chambers of the heart, "tachy" means "fast", "a-" means "not" or "wrong", and "rhythm" -- well, that's just the normal English word. So "superventricular tachyarrhythmia" just means "an abnormally fast rhythm of the heart just above the bottom chambers".
