@japsley61722 жыл бұрын
@@shikat2371 well maybe. Remember this was relatively early on in George’s comeback after a TEN YEAR layoff! The fact that George went on to knock Michael Moorer out cold with one punch, to regain the heavyweight title, at 45 years old, after such a lay off, puts Foreman in a class of his own. Iron mike at his best against the Foreman that destroyed Joe Frazier and Ken Norton (who both had beaten Ali) would be a tough one to call. I have bias because I was young when Foreman was around, so I would back him. IMO it’s not really possible to make a definitive call when you compare the best versions of Mike and George, or Muhammad Ali, Larry Holmes, Joe Louis, the Klitschkos, Evander Holyfield, Lennox Lewis, Jack Johnson and now Tyson Fury (yes he is beginning to line up with these guys). One can make a case on his best day for any of these guys! Who did it the most consistently, over a long period, against top opposition might give a points version of the best, but styles make fights and any one of the mentioned guys would have a chance against anyone on their best day.

Big George just loved eating, as his mother once said in an interview, "One whole chicken won't do it." You can see something very different in Foremans punches. They are not fast, snappy, flashy athletic looking punches. They look more like a tree log connecting and driving straight through something. Heavy handed and solid. The wrecking ball is connected to a giant crane as opposed to a forklift. There's a huge difference when it connects. Wilders power does not seem grounded like Foremans. Wilders seems to come from speed whereas Foremans comes from a thick solid base, heavy arms and hands, dense bone structure, and drive through. God has certainly blessed Big George Forman . I snuck passed the line for one of his fights in Sparks NV in 1990 I believe . Was up there on a business trip and couldn't pass up the opportunity to play hooky and go see George . I just walked in through the adjoining double doors and soon was in the large room that had a training ring or maybe it was the actual boxing ring but that detail I can't remember . Do remember knowing every answer to all his questions he asked the crowd of over 500 people . He would pick someone out who raised their hands to answer his question and if they got it right he would throw them a t-shirt . I raised my hand up but so did the guy sitting next to me and George looked right at us said stand up , I wasn't sure if he picked me or the other guy but the other guy stood up first . I should have just stood up quicker , all he could have said was hey not you the other guy instead or something like that . The guy answered incorrectly so George turned to someone else and they answered correctly . Oh well serves me right for being a sneak and not paying 5 or 10 bucks to wait in line or whatever it was . Did meet the 140lb title challenger Diabalo Hurtado ? probably butchered his name , anyway I talked to him and said he was going to win and be the new champion . He did win and I had a laugh with my dad about it . Good memories , thanks for the video and keep them coming !

The short dude taking on that giant is amazing, Foreman made Tyson scared and his power was a truck on arms, and yet this guy at 5'7 is going the distance probably with smaller lungs and being more overloaded considering they are similar weight and that is while the shorter dude had only 2 weeks notice and the shorter dude is doing it with obviously shorter levers. That shorter guy has got heart man! That's insane for a guy that height to actually fight at heavyweight but then to do it against one of the best of all time, I'm amazed that short dude didn't get slaughtered! Somehow he gave him a run for his money and went the distance, this might just be my new favourite fight video of all time!

This fight shows how much foreman would have struggled with a prime tyson.

Except for the fact that Foreman was way below his optimum weight, he was clearly winning the fight and Qawi fights differently to Tyson.
@mcspankem9 ай бұрын
@ToonsGoofyMemes tyson would have been a nightmare match up for any George prime or otherwise. Foreman looks subpar against faster smaller fighters who could move. Tyson would have won 9 out of 10 fights against George, with George's only chance would be a one punch ko in the early rounds
@ToonsGoofyMemes9 ай бұрын
@@mcspankem Tyson would be a nightmare matchup for Tyson? Lmao, just say you cannot analyse boxing. Even Cus himself said "There's no swarmer that can beat George Foreman" He literally even said to Mike: "It's suicide against Foreman if you're short and fight a swarming attacking style like Marciano or Frazier". There were negotiations of a Tyson-Foreman fight but it was Tyson's camp that pulled out. Foreman has proved over and over that smaller swarmers or sluggers are no match for him.

When Foreman came back, he was slower of course, essentially a punching bag for Morrison, Holyfield, Qawi and others, but he kept coming at them. Was a crazy thing to see!

This was the lightest George was during his comeback (235lbs) and looked to be in very good shape. What a strong, heavy handed man he was in the ring. Really would have loved to see him fight Shavers in the 70's, although Foreman most likely wins it would have been very interesting.

@@Scientists_dont_lie I'm not sure if it was the size difference or the fact that Foreman's punches were just too hurtful for Qawi. Bro George Foreman was a damn TANK. Powerful patient and persistent. Especially considering the amount of clean hard shots Muhammed clipped Foreman with throughout the bout. To be a cruiserweight, Muhammed showed great defensive prowess at times, with phenomenal head movement. Overall, great match!

I happen to think the older Foreman was better in some ways than the younger. Because now he was more patient and pace himself better. Maybe even punch harder since he had more weight behind his punches as well.
