I think the reason why Ian is so liked and respected is because of his jovial, happy going nature. It wasnt just his talent for commentaring but also his ability to describe situations and moments in the sport that the fans enjoyed and gravitated towards.

Love this! Great work doing the interview/story, video. Love his Boxing commentary, I'd only ever heard him watching some of Ricky Hatton's best fights... Insightful, thrilling and exciting caller. I want to find his call of the Tyson v Douglas fight, which had great commentators (for HBO) by Jim Lampley, Larry Merchant and retired Boxer "Sugar" Ray Leonard.

God I miss Darkie commentating on boxing. It was so easy to trust what he was saying, he had a great eye for reading a fight and there was zero bias. Him, Adam and Jim Watt. Infinitely better than today’s commentators and pundits.
