People like Bush, McCain etc were a bunch of corrupt neo-cons who sold America down the drain with dreadful trade deals, got America into lousy foreign wars and gave mediocre tax cuts that helped only the upper echelons of the middle class and business as opposed to Trump’s tax cuts which across the board lowered costs for all people of varying household incomes. Economic populism, mild protectionism, standing up against political correctness and moderation on social issues are far more appealing to the electorate than the kind of bland and establishmentarian politics that people like HW Bush, McCain and Romney represent.

I do find it so funny how he was criticized on toughness. The man was a WWII torpedo bomber, was shot down, and earned the Flying Cross. Perhaps he had enough perspective on what mattered in life and knew much of it wasn't worth getting nasty over. Regardless, he probably had more mettle than I think most of us (myself included) could muster in the 2020s. I can't help but respect his attitude and service. George HW Bush, the 41st president of the United States, has died at the age of 94. His spokesperson, Jim Mcgrath, confirmed Bush's death via Twitter on Friday but did not say how the former president, a one time CIA director and decorated World War Two navy pilot, had passed away. Bush only served one term as president, defeated in his re-election attempt by Bill Clinton, whose folksy manner and focus on the economy struck a chord with many Americans and made Bush seem disconnected from voters for focusing on foreign policy over domestic issues. During his time in office between 1989 to 1993, Bush presided over immense geopolitical upheaval following the end of the Cold War and the collapse of the Soviet Union. The legacy of his decisions can be felt the world over, including in the Middle East.

Huh!?? He is a war criminal who sent US soldiers to die for absolutely nothing in Panama, Iraq and Somalia!!

@@brianlam1663 You could argue the merits for all three of those. With Iraq, it was a coalition of 35 counties that went in to expel Saddam from Kuwait, he illegally invaded a sovereign country. That was a just war if there ever was one. Panama was to overthrow a dictator on drug trafficking charges and Somalia was for humanitarian causes to get aid to citizens. You could argue the merits of military action, but I don't know how it makes him a war criminal.
