Hi Harri! That's Ray Cooper on percussion. This whole concert is amazing, but this may be my favorite song. Billy Preston really takes us to church. RIP George. RIP Billy.

My sister was a young teenager when the Beatles came out and she was in love with George Harrison. It broke her heart years later when he passed. I saw this tribute on tv and recorded it to show my sister. I didn't tell her what the concert was for but when she saw Harrison's son she new immediately who it was.

Some may be interested to know the na-na-na of Hey Jude was 'borrowed' by Paul from George ...

If you listen closely, you can actually hear it on the original recording after the first few bars of the extended outro. It gets really prominent closer to the end, especially if you know to listen for it.

I bought this on DVD when it was released (about a year after the concert), and it came with two discs, one the theatrical version and the other a straight front to back concert with all the songs that were done, which was longer and more complete than the first disc. Terrific tribute to George.

The musicians here were billed as "George's band". They're not only George's friends but all of them (though not all at the same time) were involved in his recording projects and/or or performed with him in concert.

At the start of this concert, I recall that Ravi Shankar says to the audience, that "George is with us tonight" -in spirit, and so, he watched his friends and family celebrate, and not be sad. (later comment from Harri)

The tamborine player is Ray Cooper,,,,,,,,,Raymond Cooper (born 19 September 1947[1][2]) is an English musician who has worked as a session and road-tour percussionist. During his career, Cooper has worked and toured with numerous musically diverse bands and artists including Elton John (as a duo and as a member of his band), Harry Nilsson, Billy Joel, George Harrison, Paul McCartney, Ringo Starr, Pink Floyd, The Rolling Stones, Eric Clapton, Mark Knopfler, David Gilmour, Roger Waters and Art Garfunkel. I met George in 1977. I had a mouthful of potatoes and I did a spit take, potatoes spewing all over the restaurant table. George smiled, he got the joke. No potatoes landed on George.

Isn't it a Pity and My Sweet Lord did NOT appear on Beatles albums. They are from All Things Must Pass, George's solo masterpiece. Ringo appeared here and there on the album, John and Paul did not.

Who can tell me who plays the bluesy lead guitar (black hat in the second row???) after Billy started singing. Certainly not Clapton, he just bows his guitar (rhythm) and has his big solo in the middle section. I couldn't tell with the other songs. Thank you for your feedback!

@@donnadubyak6504 Thank you very much, actually obviously because of Traveling Wilburys, but I didn't "trust" Jeff Lynne to play the lead guitar (was in the second row) before the long Clapton solo. I wish you a lot of fun with all kinds of good music!!!

@@donnadubyak6504I don't think that's right. Lynne is on acoustic for this song. The slide solo in the middle is played by Marc Mann, who is also wearing a dark hat.

Ray Cooper on overly-theatric tambourine, as usual. I know the guy is respected etc., but I've been Ray Cooper-ed out for years. Excellent concert though, one of the best in my meager collection.

The end of the show was a beautiful rendition of “All Things Must Pass” where all of the artists came together at once to close it out. George’s son Dhani must have been in a deeply emotional state with all the love and respect for his father by those on the stage and in the audience that night, and for the remarkable music he created. What a night, Harri you really should do justice to this Concert with multiple reactions. There were so many songs performed that were frankly, better than this pick. Harrison Forever! 🤘

This concert was amazing except for Prince being disrespectful to George and Tom Petty by show boating his pentatonic scale over and over again, making it about himself instead of paying tribute. Eric and Billy had long relationships with George.
