I don't remember the year but Tammy was giving a concert close to Lou. Ky. A number of us went to see her, and her and George hadn't been divorced too long. Tammy had just recently married the piano player in her band. After she had sang about six songs when out from behind the state curtain came George Jones, you could tell Tammy's expression was like all those in the audience she was as surprised as everybody else was. George took Tammy's hand and they sang about six or seven songs together, George just bowed and left. What a great thrill it was to see and hear Tammy and George singing together. It was a wonderful night, one I'll always remember. Seeing the two Icons and Legends of Country music performing together was totally unexpected and what a super night it turned out to be. .

This brings back so many good memories. My father liked Tammy and George and especially liked them both tegether. When I was very young my dad let me help him rebuild the engine to a '75 Mustang that he picked up cheap. It took us about six weeks worth of after school hours and weekends to complete. It wasn't a race, it was just being together that mattered. After it was finished we would take the car out just for the sake of the ride that summer with this album in the 8-track. He would allow me to select the gear whenever he pushed in the clutch. For a 12 year old boy this was the best. I miss this kind of music and I miss my dad.

Tammy& George. Classic country music and their life story is what country songs are written about. I've lived in Nashville all my life and to me it will always be known as "Music City USA". My mother loved Tammy & George, as well as Conway& Loretta, Dolly & Porter, and Johnny & June. A long time ago, I had the privilege of helping take care of Tammy when she was in the hospital here in Nashville. I will keep the details private, because as a nurse, I'm bound by an ethical duty not to discuss any thing about her health, and even if I wasn't in that kind of profession, I would still keep details of her sickness private. I only want youtube peeps that love tammy Wynette and her music or is interested in her as an artist and wife and duet partner to one of the greatest country singers ever, George, that she was a kind and sweet lady. Although, I wasn't her primary nurse, a good friend of mine that was often came to get me to help with Tammy's care because she knew that I would keep Tammy's privacy and dignity intact. She was very sick, but still very beautiful and a very kind down to earth lady. One of the post on here speaks of the cliché (scripture) Love never fails. I just know in my heart that they loved each other and their love didn't fail, their marriage did. Although, I didn't know them personally, his alcohol addiction helped the marriage come to an end. She speaks of the heartache and their struggles related to his illness in her book, Stand By Your Man. Ironically, at the same hospital years later, I took care of Nancy, George's last wife. I've read and heard she helped him overcome his addiction to alcohol. He gave her credit many times in interviews about his life. She is also known for being one of the nicest and sweetest lady. So true. In my opinion, she and George had a more mature, stable marriage compared to the one with Tammy, and I know George loved Nancy, but I'll always believe that Tammy was his true love. It just wasn't strong enough to endure the many trials and storms that alcoholics cause in relationships. In the music industry, it's easy to get caught up in the party scenes and wild escapades where alcohol and drugs will always devour the weak and continue to destroy families. Tammy & George were not alone. Many country music stars struggled with alcohol addiction for example, Keith Whitley, probably the best country music singer I ever listened to. Many more like him lost their careers, families, and even their life. So this part of Tammy & George's story is sad, but I'm glad they became friends later in life. They blessed me, and my mother with their beautiful voices. My mother, who loved the Queens of country so much, that she often bought wigs and clothes to look like them. So funny. She could really relate, because she to, was married to an alcoholic for 16 yrs. She always loved George& Tammy and all the others and I'm glad she influenced my love for country music as well. It sure has changed since way back then, but these legends led the way for some incredible artists who actually sing true country songs. Some of the music today is far from country, but I guess some things always change. If u want to listen to a great song that will remind u of Tammy & Georges life sung by a awesome country singer, Sara Evans, check out " I Learned That From You". Very good classic country song! Another good one to check out to understand the changes in country music, and not necessarily the progress of it, George Strait and Alan Jackson are spot on with the song " Murder on Music Row". Long post but fun. Keepin it country here til I die!!! Lol, country music is my favorite, but I like other genres to. Of course, I love Elvis♡ Love Kid Rock, Maroon 5, Bruno Mars, Sam Smith, Adele, Meghan Trainor, oldie but goodies like Etta James, Aretha Franklin, Michael Jackson, Luther Vandross, Marvin Gaye, Eagles, Bad Co. All time favorite ever is Keith Whitley, Vince Gill, Reba, Whitney Houston, and Aaron Neville. Music is the window to my soul♡

The greatest duet of all time. If this classic was performed today the music would be secondary. The obvious would be the only thing talked about.

i don't think they ever stopped loving each other, they just realized they couldn't live together anymore without destroying each other. they were too professional to show anything other than respect for each other in front of the public.
