I got to do a kit shootout at my local music store - Pearl Reference Pure, DW Collector's, and an equivalent Yamaha. The Reference Pure was so much better - better tone and more low end than the DW. Less attack, but definitely better tone. Not to say the DW was a bad kit, not at all, but I'll be ordering a Reference Pure in the next week, and I'm very much looking forwards to it. Best kit going right now to my ears.

Jeff Ballou I'm with you man. I have had a pearl reference for 6 years and I've never thought about another kit. The bass drum alone is worth it.... it just works for everything... live, recording. They nailed it.
@KHfan4ever238 жыл бұрын
DW's are so overpriced. Even though I'm a Tama guy, you made the right move.
@ryana69618 жыл бұрын
I'd like to see scientific evidence before concluding that DW's gluing process deadens the sound of the drums. The hardware being made in Taiwan isn't really a secret, it literally says it right on there. The big selling point of the drums is that they're custom with a 2 month lead time and the shells are made in the USA. I'm not a DW fanboy, but they're not some sketchy company like your comment is making them out to be.
@gkdrummer11 жыл бұрын
Haha, so you guys think we did this clip cause i got a free drum set or two??? No........ Having an endorsement is not only about getting free gear, and also, you're not supporting anybody that gives you free stuff. It's about believe in the product 100%...I turned down 4 major drum companies before Pearl cause I WANTED Pearl. Does this say anything??
@k.bowers83725 жыл бұрын
Who cares what these haters think. You're an amazing player and a great guy, im glad you're able to be endorsed by anyone! Keep up the great work! Peace.

DW isn't overrated. It's all the sound you want. I personally love the sound of DW's and can't wait till I can get one. But I also love Pearl, Mapex, Tama, as well as Sonor. Sonor is probably my second favorite company.

Yes. I already like Pearl. It's what my first drum kit is (old Export Pro I got second hand). I customized it (sorta) by adding stuff from friends (who gave up drums after a short period of time) and by getting stuff. I've played on TAMA, Yamaha, and I think a Mapex kit, but Pearl is my favorite. Nothing else beats it to me.

I bought a reference pure in natural. 9x10,9x12,14x14,16x16 and an 18x22. I absolutely love the drums. They are the perfect studio kit in my oppinion. Dont get me wrong, Yamaha Stage Customs and the Absolute kits are awesome for recording. But this pearl kit is rediculous

Doesn't matter the name , pearl is probably the biggest drum company but even the masterworks are very mass produced compared to some old custom companies like Gabriel . Though both drum companies are awesome and to average ear the sound the same .
@odogansoy10 жыл бұрын
Why use different bass drum pedal? Pearl said Demon drive is the best, is it?
@jonahmartinez637410 жыл бұрын
It's down to preference, really. The axis pedals can get to be too long for some. I think for fast stuff, axis pedals are great. Demon drives seem to have more dynamic capabilities for those who play without triggers like myself. Both are good for speed.
@givemeajackson13 жыл бұрын
and then there are still people saying that bgeorge has no groove just cause he can play faster than anyone else... the first thung you played was damn awesome, you can blow minds with and without blast beats and double bass at 300bpm
@StagnantExistance11 жыл бұрын
The kit sounds great, but taking into account the modern methods of recording drums, I ask myself a question : " Will any of this kit's great acoustic qualities make it to the album ?". There is a huge likelihood, that it will be sampled and not recorded with actual microphones.
@MathijsIgnoul13 жыл бұрын

Triggers are essential for any type of playing. George shouldn't go out without them. And fuck that "natural" sound of kicks. Plastic "clicky" sound is way much better. For double bass ofc.
@danieloliver571012 жыл бұрын
Well last I checked George Kollias is a death metal drummer and groove and "feeling" aren't really prerequisites for that kind of music. Besides if you wanted groove you should of watched a Tony Williams or Billie Cobham video.
