The teacher is a metaphor for a more experienced (probably older) lover who has hurt him before/broken his heart. And he’s saying he doesn't want to "learn" to love another person because he doesn't want to experience pain and heartbreak again. 😢 💔

For me, that iconic part of the song always sounded to me like the perfect representation of someone who was wounded, hurt. He feels like this person will not be able to go the distance in the relationship. He has been hurt before and he doesn't want to go through it again. But at the end, he surrenders and says, "maybe just one more try". That is the thing about love. You can't control how someone feels about you and you can't always control who you love. It is always a gamble but, if you aren't willing to try you will never find it. Such a beautiful song and one that anyone who has ever had their heart broken can relate to. RIP George, we miss you.

There's a song called "a different Corner". It's a very simple song but it's dedicated to his school friend Andrew Ridgeley. George and Andrew were originally The Band "Wham" before George went solo. This song is George essentially letting go of his schoolboy relationship with Andrew as they became separated as "Wham". George was the creator; writer and singer where he did not need Andrew. You can hear the lyrics of the song talking to Andrew. Another simple song is "praying for Time" he writes decent lyrics in this song. He released a compilation album called "ladies and gentlemen". disc one of the album collated his upbeat hits and disc to collated all of the ballots. Maybe the other way around (smile). My favourite is the collated ballad CD. You can listen all night; plucking away at your guitar.

George Michael is one of the most recognizable music icons of the 1980's. Solo and with his group Wham, George recorded so many great songs. "One More Try" came from George Michael's solo album "Faith". A great album with so many other hits including "Faith", "I Want Your Sex", "Father Figure", "Monkey", and "Kissing A Fool". He also recorded a duet with Aretha Franklin that went to #1 in 1987 "Knew You Were Waiting For Me". Before going solo, George Michael was with the group Wham which had many classic 1980's songs including "Wake Me Up Before You Go-Go", "Careless Whisper" and "Freedom". Also, Baby Gap, Wham recorded what is now considered a classic Christmas song "Last Christmas". I really hope you'll play Wham's "Last Christmas" during your Christmas live stream this Sunday.

The whole album "faith" is one of the greatest pop albums ever produced and written and composed. Phenomenal vocals and deep lyrics. Elton John once had said that he envied this song and thought to himself why couldn't he write a song like this.. ❤❤.. George Michael was an iconic artist... Irreplaceable..

I always thought that referring to someone as the "teacher" was his way of not outing himself as gay. You know, back then that would just about kill a celebrity career.
