George R.R. Martin Reveals HBO's Next Game of Thrones Prequel Series!

Welcome back for another Game of Thrones and A Song of Ice and Fire update video. In this video, I will be talking about George R.R. Martin's recent NotABlog update, where he revealed which new Game of Thrones prequel series he is developing with HBO. According to George R.R. Martin, he's developing a new Game of Thrones prequel series, with HBO, chronicling the legendary Nine Voyages of Lord Corlys Velaryon, The Sea Snake. He also revealed this new series will no longer be live action. Due to budgetary reasons, Nine Voyages will now be animated, a first for HBO's Game of Thrones prequel shows! The series has yet to be given a greenlight, but George R.R. Martin believes this will happen very soon. There's no official release date yet, either... HBO is currently developing House of the Dragon's second season, as well as their new series, A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms: The Hedge Knight. House of the Dragon season 2 will release early this summer!

Especially the constant statements that he is working on TWOW ... it's all a lie. Hype to keep people interested. Most of those things won't happen and he's DEFINITELY not going to finish that book. That's why I think "IT'S A LIE" fits so well.

That is exactly what is happening. When the first season of Game of Thrones ended, GRRM put up his feet, took a sip of Ye Ole Brew and said, "Ahhhh. Finished. These boys will do a great job with the story."

Really the only thing that seems interesting is Aegon's conquest and maybe Robert's rebellion. A show about ancient Valyria leading up to it's destruction would be interesting as well. If the Snow series helps retro fix the ending of the og series that could be good but really none of the other side projects seem interesting.

jesus... i literally came here to say this. exact. thought. clone wars is the best star wars ever made. rebels is amazing and tales is just more of that as backstories. ive loved dbz and grew up watching it but besides that? i cant get into anime or animation. but i think well made animation can show the story perfectly just like clone wars. everything is perfect bc humans cant actually act as jedi. but animation can portray them perfectly. mace windu scene when he jumps up a crashing ship back onto the bridge during a small battle. it's perfection. every single movement he makes is perfectly calculated to get him back above the bridge but a human being or the best stunt man cant do that.

Yes! I was also going to say this. One consideration though: Star Wars is at its base a kids show (as Lucas has reminded us many times) so I’m not sure it will translate the same. I am still open to the idea though.

The reason I fell in love with "a song of ice and fire" universe is because how real life it feels. It's high fantasy, but take out the dragons and it seems like a some historical event that actually took place. When I watched the GoT for the first time on my friends suggestion, for the first few episodes I thought it was adaptation of some medieval history. Even though I love every story related to the song of ice and fire, I don't want it to become like 'star wars, LOTR' etc. with live action stuff, movies, animation shows, non cannon shows, fan- service spinoffs etc. I don't want that for a song of ice and fire. For eg. even though I would love to see the Aegon's conquest, but making a show out of it will strip it of it's mythic stature. I think in a song of ice and fire universe 'Aegon's conquest' should be something that everybody only knows happened and talk about it like a mythic event. They shouldn't show it happening, It's like the big bang. Imagining about it is always better than a studio's version of it. HBO should only make live action shows, close to the books.

Blackfyre Rebellion (For Debate) I think the first 7 are pretty accurate, But the last one is up for debate. But according for what fan would want the most (not in correct order) these first seven would be the most popular show to make.

Personally I quite like the idea of the Sea Dragon being an anime show. It will be more cost effective, plus more can be down in anime. No CGI work required, no post filming editing required. And we can possibly get 10-15 episodes per season, hopefully each of 45 minutes duration

I was never into animated shows either but Star Wars Clone Wars and Rebels have been pretty good so far (in middle of both of them). Live action is always better, but if they can pull off a ASOIAF series (or 3) that’s for adults and has detailed info and looks amazing, I think it’ll work. I’d watch them, I’m actually excited for them. Hope they happen. But I want the Jon Snow show (definitely want this to happen) and HotD to continue for as long as possible. Won’t mention anything about books since…well we know.

Dunk and Egg should be way down the Priority List. 1. We need a Direct Sequel after the Events of Game of Thrones to hopefully fix S7 and particularly S8. 2. Valaryia followed up by Aegon conquering Westeros 3: Roberts Rebellion

Honestly, I hope that we get an animated GOT remake adapting the books well, and hopefully having most of the OG GOT actors voicing their characters and giving us a better ending. By the time they do that, they will be able to present this story to new and old audiences. And the story will be familiar for many of us, but something fresh in format and storyline for New audiences... I see George motivated to put animated shows depicting his universe well, maybe they will do this as they are with Harry Potter

I would like to see a sequel to GoT, see what new lands Arya finds, how things are going for Sansa in Winterfeld, what Jon is doing beyond the wall, and where Drogon took Daenyrs. With Daenyrs dead, Jon shouldve just married Sansa and been lord of Winterfeld. They could redeem the finale by finding out the white walkers are not gone but an even bigger threat is coming as westeros descends into winter. Then, they could bring Dany back as like the only person who can stop it. And at the end, Drogon could lay eggs meaning more dragons for the future.

yeah, the worst problem the franchise has is the awful ending to season 8, and SNOW is the only one of these show with the potential to fix that and give us a better closure, the fact that people do not realize that is baffling (either that or they are sansa or arya fans that feel the ending is perfect for them because their favorite characters got a "good ending" despite the fact that the only reason those 2 ended where they did was by trampling on the storylines of other (and better) characters).

I'd obviously prefer Winds, but as long as we're talking about non-mainline adaptations; I wouldn't mind a Tywin origin story. There's no dialogue already completed to the extent of Dunk & Egg, but the ending is already safely established. If it's just the R-T rebellion then it could be done with a single movie, and wouldn't require CGI anywhere near the level of HotD.

Don’t know why people keep going on about him finishing the books. Unfortunately we’re never gonna see either of the last two books. I personally think it’s a combination of him having too many plots and characters and no way to fit them all in together and give clarity to each situation without majorly killing characters off in quick succession not in two books anyway, and also some of shows endings that were criticised were part of his plan and he’s scared of the backlash. Atleast he’s created a world that we will have entertainment of for years to come! After HOTD I’m hoping there’s many more to come! Aegons conquest, Corleys 9 voyages are both musts!! Think the Jon snow series is pure fan service but the rest I have high hopes for!! Let’s enjoy what we can and appreciate what George has created even if his main achievement unfortunately will more then likely end up unfinished.

It really depends on how the animation looks like there’s some Pixar animation movies like that borderline cartoons that look really good and then there’s some that look really bad if you’re looking at it like I love, Family Guy, but I would not wanna see that style of animation
