Mr. Roberts was the inspiration for all of us that picked up the bass 'bone.

George is wonderful in this performance, as always. My only complaint is that he is not playing his Conn 70H bass trombone. I have one that I have owned since 19505 and I do not believe that any other trombone has a more beautiful sound than the Conn 70H. But then no other bass trombonists come close to the professionalism of George Roberts. Thanks for posting this great recording.

Il trombone viene sempre dopo l'uomo. E George Roberts veniva prima del 70h

What horn and mouthpeice did he use on this performance??

I'm 99% certain he is playing on a Conn 110H Single valve Bass Trombone with modified Vincent bach 1.5g Mouthpiece ( bored out to a 1.25g ( or 1 1/4 ).

Interesting - I thought he might be playing on the Kanstul he helped create.
