How George applies his clumps of paint and conjures up a cohesive image is totally mind blowing.
@mud5377 Жыл бұрын
I had never heard of George so I googled him. Immediately I saw the word "SINGULAR" being used to describe his strokes and immediately nodded in approval. I've never seen anything quite this heavy/thick, nor have I seen someone paint their whole portrait with a putty knife and their fingers :D

@@sampathkumar8873 isn't this just beautiful? I've gotten the impression that many of the greatest artists, particularly painters, don't seem to like to reveal their process. Being allowed a glimpse lile this into a man's studio as well as his work is truly a gift!

As an impasto and mixed media artist myself , nearly as old as George, I know the hard struggle it would take ,battling away every day at the canvas for years, to make art this good ! I have admired his work for many years. A true Master Painter. His landscape works, in my opinion are some of the finest ever produced by a British artist past or present. When are we going to see a decent book on his life and work . It is surely long over due.. Also a documentary film on his life is required.

If you listen to this with the volume up and there may be people around to overhear it be forewarned that the audio could be a little misleading. I recommend loudly saying things that would indicate that you are watching an art documentary and not something else. Remember to also try to avoid ambiguous phrases when you do this, for instance, say "wow, wonderful brushwork" rather than "oh yeah stroke it baby." Hope this helps.

Just discovered George. To my knowledge he's made this Van Gogh via Frank Auerbach space his own. (Though I think he even out-does Auerbach in the thickness of his surfaces.) I've located every on-line image of his paintings that I can find. Some are just extraordinarily beautiful. I know pictures aren't the same as the original, but from what I've seen, many terrific artists go their whole lives without equaling the beauty of his best.

This is fantastic. I like it so much. Brilliant idea of painting this way. As if he was trying to say that he is old or maybe it was or is a process of becoming. Very vague, could be either getting old with no definition or could be a person becoming as such. Very mixed feelings and different kinds of interpretation.
