@GOD IS DEAD Weiss and Bennioff both expressed that they originally wanted to finish the series a lot sooner than it actually was. HBO had wanted them to do 10 Seasons, but they wanted to finish the series in 7 Seasons because the Red Wedding was what their main objective was and now that they had already accomplished that, they were getting tired of filming more and were receiving other lucrative job offers. So they ended up settling for 8 Seasons with HBO as a compromise, but they basically just cut their original intended content for Season 7 into a slightly shorter season and made the rest of the material into a much more brief, 8th Season. Many fans are upset because they know for a fact that the showrunners had plenty of new characters and unexplored material that they could have ventured with (meaning more sex, violence, political intrigue, and supernatural mysteries for the audience), but the showrunners chose not to do them. It would not have been expedient for their own personal career goals to do any more, even though the viewers were clearly craving to see more of this world onscreen and would have welcomed more story rather than what we got.

It's because it's a real name (though it is spelt differently from the real version). It's originally a Gaelic name, and the British way is how they pronounce it on the show (since they're British), which I think makes more sense than the way George pronounces it, considering Westeros is (primarily) based on medieval Britain.

I think that person meant we have seen things that can be considered demonstrable proof of some gods' powers. Bran's accurate visions and warging, Thoros of Myr and Melisandre's magic, etc... But we haven't seen anything from the septons or the seven on the same level. But they just worded it badly.

The 7 have never revealed themselves because it is just a religion created by the faith and much like our religions in real life it is almost certainty just made up nonsense. Of course Martin can't say that in an interview but you can tell he was thinking it. If the seven were to make themselves know it would remove the depth completely a story of ice and fire is more subtle than that.. For example Davos is struggling with his faith after seeing what he believes to be the magic of the red god right before his vary eyes. Again whether this is indeed the magic of a god or just some dark sorcery is never confirmed. The person asking the question doesn't seem to understand that the seven are not a proven definite existence and that not even the author believes in them. Just because a story has religion within it it does not mean that their gods are real. It is left up to the reader / viewer to determine weather they believe them to be real or not

If religions aren't meant to have definitive proof then why do both the faith of the Lord of Light and the faith of the Old Gods all have some of their presence felt in the world? Why does that not "remove the subtlety"? I think it would be great to have *some* evidence of the Seven's influence, not in an obvious way, but in the same way as the followers of the Lord of Light, where you see something mystical, but it's never certain if that's truly divine (it could just be magic mistaken for faith). It could also be presented in an extremely sutble way, for instance one of the characters channels The Warrior and becomes temporarily inhumanly strong. Or someone channels the mother and does real faith healing (but maybe they're just good at herbs, or maybe we're not sure if they really serve a darker power). It's perfectly a reasonable possibility

I believe in the crackpot theory of GRRM not wanting to release the book while the show was airing so he pushed it back. I don't believe he's 'done' with the book yet, but that he put it off in a sense, because of the show.
