it's wild how insanely well he played such an evil character, and then he's just this shy, down-to-earth kid in real life lmao

I actually disagree with George quite a bit on this. In the text it really feels like Littlefinger is a smarmy A-hole and rubs everyone up the wrong way. The noble class mostly tolerate him and let him do their dirty work, but they don't seem to enjoy hanging out with him. He's constantly making gross incel jokes, lording his intelligence over everyone he interacts with, he's insufferable! He has allies but it really doesn't come across like anyone besides Lysa and Catelyn would call him a friend and that's because they grew up with him and his manipulation of them is his cornerstone. That's my take, particularly in the earlier books, sorry big G xxx

He went from a spoiled brat-annoying but not truly dangerous-to something as terrifying as Homelander. And considering Antony Starr is a far more experienced actor, that says a lot. His performance was incredible from start to finish. Joffrey crawled so Homelander could walk. The world needs actors like him.

I think a better version of Littlefinger depicted in television actually isn’t even in Game of Thrones. Gustavo Fring from Breaking Bad and Better Call Saul reminds me so much more of how I imagined book Littlefinger to behave and plan. He retains the trust of the public and the people who have more power than him by seeming amiable and subservient. He presents himself as a great philanthropist to the public and a pillar of the community. Someone there is no reason not to trust. Show Littlefinger is…sadly not that. I’m uncertain as to why D&D made the writing decisions they did regarding him but I can say that it smacks of a character being too smart for the people writing him to be able to write it consistently and without tripping themselves up. As a dungeon master, I run into this problem all the time (most people don’t exactly have an 18 intelligence lol) but the solution there isn’t to take away the aspects of the character that made his intelligence believable because even the average viewer would wonder why the hell anyone interacts with Littlefinger in the first place when he’s always doing his best cosplay of a serpent in the grass. It’s just confusing to me
