George seems to be a genuinely decent bloke, A great achievement out performing seven times world champion Sir Lewis HamiltonI by 35 points. The quote from Lando Norris was “you’re not so much fun since you’ve joined Mercedes” and not F1. I think it was just a comment from a friend to help him keep his feet on the ground. Thoroughly enjoyed the podcast thank you. Cheers Jim

Hearing him talk about his mindset in the Williams was great. It really explains why a driver in P17 might crash out. They are always pushing. They always have a goal. Until the chequered flag is waved, every driver on the grid believes that they can win under the circumstances.

George's maturity always impresses me. I like how he is not silent when necessary, like the time he went to the media to criticize Horner's decision to fire Alex Albon and how he criticizes the attitudes of the FIA without any fear. He reminds me a bit of Niki Lauda with all that leadership.

The reason Ham respects Russell, and a talent like him, is that he was not raised with a silver spoon. He worked his way up & had to put himself out there to "make it". Make no mistake, this guy has all the qualities of a World champion. I just hope he is given a good enough car, opportunity to do it. And just the right support as his stardom grows.

@@daarom3472RB never had 'terrible' cars. Verstappen never 'outoerformed' any Red Bull car until 2019 when he finished 3rd in the championship with 3 race wins in the 3rd fastest car. He was beaten quite handily by Ricciardo in 2016/17 and probably would've lost to him in 2018 as well if not for horrid luck on Ricciardo's part. In 2021, George made a name for himself dragging that Williams into positions it didn't deserve to be. I agree he wasn't spectacular by any stretch of the imagination in 2022, but he drove with such robotic consistency that he managed to compensate for whatever pace gap he surrendered to Lewis.

The questions they ask around "What do you mean by that", or pressing on "Why was that" or not letting a typical media trained question like "I see *this*" or "I felt like there was *this*" without going into detail. So much to learn with regard to pressing someone for a real answer and expanding on what they were saying to really dig into them. These guys are awesome. "What is that, that you're alluding to". They always get the preface "Ah, you've caught me offguard". It intrigues me, not just interested to hear the responses they get, but how they go about getting them. Amazing pod again :)

If Mercedes don't resurge within the next decade then George won't win a championship. It's as simple as that. Winning a championship is highly dependent on the car and as unlikely as it may seem, George will not win a championship in a midfield Mercedes if they stay in the midfield forever.

I hear this phrase future world champs but I don't quite agree with it. You most of these drivers are within the same age bracket and you get one great car every once in a long while. It seems that this highly talented generation, will remain in the shadows of Max who is a tier above them. Come 2028 when his contract expires, it's most likely the likes of Oscar who will be next in line if not another crazy talented unearthed by then. This generation will go down as one with so much talent never to win all because of the dominance of one guy.

Lewis will be champion before George. The team will prioritize Lewis to get his 8th confirmed title. Then the following year, Merc will let them fight it out

The part around 1:10:00 where George talks about how it could have been if they'd been in championship winning machinery is fascinating.

Really enjoyed listening to this. However, and I could be wrong, why they didn’t ask George to describe the feeling of jumping in the Mercedes after he Williams is a little disappointing. I would I loved to have heard him talk at length about that. Nevertheless, big fan of GR

I think Mercedes did recently something along those lines for his anniversary of taking Lewis' place at Sakhir 2020 GP, it should be on their socials or on George's.
