Very interesting how he voices the left hand in this trio setting, usually avoiding the root. I don't mean just rootless chords but the countermelodic lines

YES ! Is it partly the inspiration of the presence of Israel Crosby and Vernal Fournier of classic Ahmad Jamal Trio, who are just as marvelous and unified throughout this their only album as Shearing Trio, for tragic reasons described on cover ( RIP Israel Crosby). Per George Shearing's biography, this was one of Sir George's favorites of his own albums, the first he named whsn asked his favorites . So good to see this transcribed by the inspiring Anthony Tseng ! Jazz fans: hear the entire JAZZ MOMENTS. And pray that for Christmas, Anthony Tseng transcribes the entire album !

Do you know about Alan Clare? He was Stephane Grappelli's pianist for many, many years after George Shearing had come to America. Alan's playing really has Incredible Swing and Phenomenal touch. He was probably the Best if not the most well-known Accompanist after Red Garland and Bill Evans. I'm just passing this along because I really love Shearing's version of Star Eyes which he recorded with Stephane and that made me think of Alan. Cheers.
