He may be those things, but also look at what happened to make it possible for him to do that. He didn't create the financial bubble that destroyed those people. The Bank of England did. He was vociferous in pointing out the problems. Just like you can't blame Michael Burry ("The Big Short") for the US 2008 financial crisis. People who borrowed money to leverage themselves against worthless commodities created their own problems, and wound up taking down lots of innocent people in the process. I agree with you that the things done by short squeezers are, well, suspect, but without those short squeezers the people who made the bad decisions in the first place don't have as much to lose. They gambled and lost. Short sellers can get wiped out as well, and often do. Shorting is dangerous -- there is no downside limit to their losses. We see it every month in crypto. All I'm saying is it's the people who rode the bubble in the first place that did the positive harm to the unsuspecting pension holders. I mean, look, my Mom was wiped out by the collapse of WorldCom in 2002. And, yes, I'm oversimplifying, but, as the saying goes, two wrongs don't make a right.
