Hi George! That was a really humble and honest assessment my friend. Yes, indeed the numbers of those who are finally opening their eyes is growning, unfortunately not the right ones, not the ones with any real power. I'd personally prefer (in the short-term... There is no 'long-term'...) organised social revolution to post-apocalyptic [Mad Max] anarchy... But then I might be rejoining the elements of the universe soon anyway.

I have a vey difficult time dealing with your concept of "gratitude". Thankful to whom? And for what? I recognize the Earth for the absolute miracle that it really is. Amidst that visceral realization I cannot get beyond the horrific stupidity that lies behind our willful destruction of it. I am not "grateful" for my awareness. It only makes the horror and stupidity of our actions all that more horrific. Do you imagine that a suddenly blinded person would be more "grateful" for having once seen, than absolutely devastated about seeing no more? It is ludicrous to believe that. From my perspective it is just a new form of delusional magical thinking. Something to make us feel better about ourselves amidst the impending horrors we have created.

Thanks for your question. For me, gratitude and blindness are two sides of the same coin. If you are grateful, it means that you are not blind to the miracles that abound in the creation. It doesn't matter if you lose it all, if the world collapses. You can STILL be grateful for what YOU HAD, because you recognise the significance and the value of all Earth's beings. What is most sad is not the loss itself. It is the lack of awareness and gratitude, it is having lost something without ever having acknowledged its value. I will still be grateful even if all that is left is one species of bacterium on this planet. Because its value is immense.

"Human Exceptionalism" is the insane, unrecognized "achilles heel" of the entire human species. As technologically brilliant as we have proven ourselves to be, we are unable to acknowledge that we are just one element in a fantastically variegated whole. The Earth is NOT just about US!
@treefrog33492 жыл бұрын
The undeniable -undeniable! - reality is that if humans had NEVER existed (all other factors remaining exactly the same) the Earth today would be a a living, breathing paradise with an effulgence of LIFE. The decimation we are witnessing on an almost daily basis is the direct result of HUMANS. It is heartbreaking and shocking to admit, but it is the truth.

Amazing conversation, so good hearing other people with a shared sense of (a horrifying) reality. I also observed the toxic exploitation culture in my field which treated humans as temporary parts in a machine that was designed to make as much profit as it can. No one who worked there actually gave a crap about the supposed cause, only about how much power and money they can gain with as little work they can put in. Most people only look at others as tools, something that they can use for their own benefit - or an enemy if not. Don't give away your life for people like this.

For sure! Chicken and egg scenario; mutually reinforcing feedback loop. Same with the proliferation of dark triad personality types in society. I think that if we were able to track the rise in psychopath/sociopath/narcissist as a percentage of population, it would perfectly correlate to the ‘progress’ of civilization

Great talk! Hey Michael dowd, what are you're thoughts about the Venus project from Jacque fresco. Do you now about that? So yes do you think that is a more realistic version of civilization with smaller cities but they are connected nature friendly designed, and a resource based society with no money, i hate money and I think it causes alot of trouble. Is the Venus project realistic and could it happen? Of course he probably doesn't have everything right but the fundamentals about the Venus project how to do agriculture, resource based society, no money, technology that is helping us instead of controlling us and making a mess, the way he has designed cities, education his focus on art creativity, and making people self reliant and community. What are you're thoughts about that is that more realistic than the civilization we have now and is it possible if people can change their minds of course.
@thegreatstory2 жыл бұрын
Nope, not possible. I've got a new video coming out tomorrow that will explain why: "Hopium Detox and Recovery: Accepting and Trusting Unstoppable Collapse."
@beingnonbeingincludesexistence2 жыл бұрын
@@thegreatstory alrighty! I will look forward to you're next video. I know that collapse is unstoppable, But i mean more like is a resource based civilization, based on community and observing life with high education, without money, more compatible with life. If we survive collapse and humans form communities again, and we form a resource based society, and build material that can last longer than in a capitalist society because in capitalism everything is made to last really short, and a few people are knowledgeable about how it works than it becomes corrupt and dangerous. so we don't use much resources people can freely get high education that is life based, technology is inevitable with humans it's better to invent technology that is compatible with life. Otherwise if we survive collapse we are going to do the same thing and collapse again and that could be the end, maybe this coming collapse will be even the end.
@beingnonbeingincludesexistence2 жыл бұрын
@@thegreatstory it is more like a question, people definitely won't change their minds for a resource based society, i know that, so collapse will definitely happen and possibly end the human adventure/experience.

@@thegreatstory I'm pagan and I don't believe that God wants to come and 'punish' humankind. I believe that we are all part of God, and we are also a part of nature. The fact that you Karen think, (as nothing more than an advanced breed of monkey like all of us humans are) are so important that you have an imaginary friend with a beard and sandals pulling the universes strings in your favor is nothing more than a quintessential example of supreme not only hubris but of human centered narcissism at the root cause of all the problems facing us in plain sight today.
